I was at the Shay pre-Beaumont days when Leigh turned in a shocking display, to see Leigh players laughing behind the sticks following another Fax try to add to their rapidly spiralling total really hurt!
The following week we played Wigan away in the CC and I didn't go out of protest, what I also didn't know was that the Leigh players at Fax had not been paid and, didn't know if they were going to be!
I recall Derek Beaumont standing up and saying; i'll pay the players! the rest of course is history

Charlie your disappointed and annoyed like me and presumably all our fans but, Dont let T***ers like Nosey Parker and his Cynical Editor Danny Lockwood who, wrote a damming Editoral on Beamont the week before bother you they are only printing stories that they know will make their readers chuckle at our demise


Of course Beaumont has made mistakes however, its been his money (mainly) that he has made those mistakes with not yours or, mine!
At the start of the Season can you honestly say you weren't happy with the squad, Beaumont had assembled?
His loyalty may have been his undoing only he can decide that? Many feel Paul Rowley was lucky not be sacked after our performances in the Qualifiers in 2015 when we finished Bottom of the group? Neil Jukes too was lucky not to be dismissed after the MPG!
How badly have we performed this season? we lost five of our first six matches and this has proved to be fatal to Beaumont's plan of an early return to SL ! We have subsequently won 17 of our last 19 league fixtures and soundly beaten SL side Salford in the CC too

Those stats will stand up against any club in this country!
We know the fine line that has cost us and, had any of the top four clubs played Toronto three times they too would not be in the Qualifiers! For what its worth, I do feel Leigh are/were the best team in the Comp regardless of how its ended!
I'm desperately sorry the season has turned out like this however, lets not join in with the Gloaters in condeming DB most other clubs would have been happy to have had his backing!

Was that the game Beaumont was fighting in the crowd?

Charlie, the man sat next to Juksey was Cunningham. We can all use Juksey as a scapegoat,but you don't have to be an Einstein to who was getting the bigger wage.

Kirky I can't disagree with most of your post,myself I'm disappointed yes,annoyed yes, and hurting, I feel let down as well.As you rightly say those first 6 games defined the rest of our season,the Barrow away defeat should have been Jukesys swansong ,DB has to take the blame for not showing him the door,I'm a betting man and before a ball was kicked at the start of the season,Leigh were 2/ 7 to finish top of the League,in other words near certain.
After games against Toronto Barrow, Toulouse, Fev ,were we lost and threw away decent leads ,the damage had been done,again you rightly point out how we became the form team later ,after the Fax debacle,losing only to Toronto twice.

I WAS very happy with the recruiting of players for this season,and even understood DBS gamble of giving them 2 year contracts,but things started to go wrong, Baptiste wasn't happy,and went home, Vaivai was injured for the season,the Riddy saga wasn't good for us,eventually Jukesy was shown the door,Blackpool wasn't good, the Matautia sin binning cost us, then the goal at the end which wasn't a goal,and Matautia sent off at Fev,all downers,coupled with Fax ,Toulouse and London all playing great rugby.

The rest of the season is now history, like most Leythers I'm hurting, looking for someone to blame, it's human nature,I won't desert the Club though,and will be at Fev on Sunday, I'm hopeful things will get sorted and hope we don't go into administration.Will things get worse?I hope not ,but they probably will.Charlie.

Atomic, I won't argue with that, I never look at money folk are on, as it's not my business, but I agree KC was probably on more than Jukesy, again KC was responsible for the Recruiting of players ,of which I think most Leythers were happy, but Jukesy was responsible for Coaching, and we lost not only games , but good leads against teams,12 against Toronto, at least 10 against Barrow, around 16 against Toulouse,which should not have occurred.

I'm not making Jukesy the scapegoat, because KC, DB, and the players must take a percentage of the blame ,I feel so down at our current position, and it will be a crying shame if we go into Administration.

Charlie I'm in turmoil. I can't describe how I feel at present, I'm totally gutted. But I'm with you on DB should leave now along with his puppets. He chucked his money in knowing there was no return and credit to him we all enjoyed the ride.
Now he's not willing to show that same commitment, close the door on the way out please and let the club continue.

DB hired Jukes and then retained him too long.
DB hired Cunningham and then retained him too long.
DB bankrolled the ride (thanks and it was at time fantastic) but did not have a plan B this year in case of failure.
Plan A failed, the club is in turmoil and in danger of administration, the custodian of the club failed to protect the club in case of failure.
I hate to play the blame game but for me everything that has happened was on DBs watch.
