| I wonder if this is causing any friction between Derek and the coaching staff or players? He’s very vocal on Twitter and arguing with everyone, including our own fans. The optics are really bad for the club and i can imagine a professional coach like Adrian Lam is losing patience.
Lammy said he was talking directly to Tom to the press and now Derek has undermined him by saying we were never in for Tom due to not having a relationship with Sam Ayoub. Sounds to me like Derek is trying to save some pride as Hull KR have offered more.
Why can’t we just be the quietly performing professional organisation like Wigan, Saints or Hull KR.
If the the playing budget is managed by Chris Chester then all signings should upto him and Lam, or does everybody at the club have a problem with Ayoub, if so you can expect Lachlan Lam to be leaving at the end of 2025 as Sam Ayoub is his agent aswell.

| No doubt Lam will be asked about his view on the whole thing when he has his next presser. But I wouldn't blame him for being annoyed.
Beaumont is too volatile a character to be too close to the playing side, and negotiations. I thought that was the whole point of Chris Chester.

| I?m gutted he?s gone to KR. If Derek has blocked Chester from negotiating for Amone, it doesn?t look good and we miss a very good player all to get one over on his agent. This can and will have a massive problem when it?s time to get Lochlan resigned. Ayoub will probably do everything he can to block that. The signing of Amone to both CAS and KR seemed to go through very smoothly. Once again gutted and I hope this isn?t the start of us missing players left right and centre.

Derek should be nowhere near the rugby side of things and shouldn't be discussing player recruitment on social media. For us to be going into the season well under the salary cap I find very poor, Prop Half back and second row are the minimum requirement we must sign to keep progressing. Full Faith in Adrian and chester

Welcome to the Leigh Leopards Joe Ofahengaue. Signed from Paramata Eels. We must have been well into negotiations or even have signed him, hence Tom went elsewhere. This I can accept is why we didn?t sign Tom. Joes a good addition and has plenty experience in the nrl. He likes to help the younger ones in the squad also.

| I'm a little surprised at the lack of ambition by Amone, has gone back, joined the form team and failed to get into their side and it seems he has just given up, he could have stuck it out and either tried to force his way into the side when a few injuries happen or looked to move to a lesser NRL side. Could have easily stayed in the NRL for this season and next and back himself to make an impression, if it failed would have still got a great SL team. Seems to have taken the easy way out.
Clifford could have done the same, but he worked hard, waited for his chance and then proved he was good enough.
Of all the players who went to the NRL from SL last year, I thought Amone had the most chance to be successful.

| I'm replying to this thread so I can see what are apparently 16 replies, when I can only read 12, even when logged in.
I concur that prop was the priority, be interesting to see how Tom goes at Cas, the tired badly in the second half last night.

I don't watch NRL but reading the views of actual Australian followers of it, it seems that many were very much wondering where Amone would fit it when he was signed. Of all things most thought that with his height being 5' 11', he was too small to succeed at that level

I think the visa rules will play a part in this. A SL deal for Clifford was always difficult, even before he broke into the Cowboys team, as he needed to have played a percentage of first grade games last year to get a GBE. If Amone had stopped at the Bulldogs this year, he would've found it difficult to play first grade anywhere next year. I imagine he'll have an NRL clause in his contract.
