| As Ben Nakubuwai is off contract with Leigh I can’t imagine the club would extend and take up a valuable quota spot bearing mind the stick the club gave Hull FC for the quality of their signings last season.
With Matt Moylan’s cap space and quota spot the club should be targeting a marquee signing.

| I am merely offering a temporary solution, not taking up an overseas slot for the season. It takes months to get these contracts signed off and then the player needs to make arrangements to leave the southern hemisphere and to find accommodation in Leigh. This is why they use Holiday Inn to give them time to settle. Nobody knows for sure when Moylan finally made the decision but Derek was fairly certain he was not coming back before the announcement of his retirement.

| Quote Leyther in nz="Leyther in nz"I think we need to extend Edwin now also. With the changes to the date you can approach players for 2026, he will certainly be one other clubs will be targeting.'"
Absolutely, this is priority for me, in a recent podcast Derek mentioned negotiations had started with Edwin over a long term deal, hopefully this is already done.

Definitely. Moylan's contract should be put straight in front of Ipape. Given Lam is highly unlikely to renew, can't afford to lose Ipape at the same time as well.

A very good point, and a big risk/blow
Signing Ipape up would be huge.
But did lam jr not sign a new deal around the hull rumours time, know we reportedly offered it him, it all then when quiet after we stated he’d be here for 25

Not seen any announcement of a new contract, and am sure the club would've shouted from the rooftops if he'd extended. So he's either been given a pay rise to stay for 2025, or the club were correct in their claim that his clause was only applicable for NRL clubs.

| Unless Lam Jnr has already signed a new deal I cannot see him staying, him being none quota means clubs will pay a premium for him and I can see him going to Catalans if no NRL deal materialises.

| There are confusing on-line reports regarding the actual status of our quota space. The 'Serious About Rugby League' web site reports that we have space available while the 'Love Rugby League' website reports that only Catalans and Huddersfield have quota space available.

| Lazy reporting from Love Rugby League. They are wrong.
Unbelievably, SARL are correct for once.
We are allowed 7 overseas players and at the moment we have 5 - Armstrong, Niu, Pene, Ipape & Liu.
We have 2 spaces available if as reported Condon fails to pitch-up. All the reports are that we are in for Alec Tuitavake as a replacement.
Basically, we have a space to fill following Moylen's unexpected 'retirement'.
Love Rugby League get a bit vague on reporting accuracy once it involves teams outside of Wakefield and Castleford.
