| Quote TV BOY="TV BOY"How many people do you think work for Leigh Centurions full time and how many do you think get a decent working wage for their efforts? Why don't you ring the club and ask to speak to the BODs with your ideas? We have no money for promotional work. The club relies on the help of LISA and the other money raising agents to try and break even. Do you really think that the people who are working for nothing really want to do it and then read articles like this. I am dead against censorship and everyone is allowed their, view but unless you know of the people who you say are needed at the club or are prepared to fund promotional feats or even organise them for no money - like quite a few do - then your comments are worthless.'"
The number of people working for the club is totally irrelevant if the people above them don't provide any guidance or strategic direction. There is plenty of resource available via LISA, Touchdown Club etc if a plan is in place with specific people tasked to carry out specific measurable tasks.
The problem is we have a Board who don't have the time to make this happen and a chief exec who doesn't have the ability or inclination to do so. As such there is a total lack of cohesion, no genuine strategy or marketing of any aspect of the club, be it game day or otherwise.

| I think we have to be realistic, certainly at the moment. We do not have vast sums of money coming into the club, so I believe the strategy of being self-sustaining is the only way forward. We daren't be like Bradford, or Salford, or any one of a number of SL clubs who are living beyond their means. The huge danger of getting someone to throw their money away, is that they suddenly stop throwing it away or, even worse, want it back! I have a frustration that we are currently missing opportunities to bring in regular funds, from advertising, sponsorship etc, because we are right down to the bone, on staff numbers. 'Speculating to accumulate' is a strategy that springs to mind, but there is a risk associated with it. Hopefully, Rob's appointment is a step in the right direction, so that we can begin to harvest some of that sponsorship/adverising revenue.
The sentiment behind my post was not to kick off a dig at the Board/CEO, who are working very hard to put things right - more a statement that we can learn from the teams in our League, before we attempt to emulate the more successful ones in SL.

We share a similar sentiment Alan, as I also accept the Board are trying to put things right. However their collective inability to identify the revenue streams to which you refer, let alone put a plan into place to harvest them, tells its own story - a dynamic CEO with wider business acumen should be able to fill this gap.
With the lack of revenue streams currently available to the club this must be addressed, as once again we are looking highly unlikely to break even. If this means individuals falling on swords then so be it.

Of course, I'm sure the current CEO would be willing to step aside, and 'live a life' again, if we could find the calibre of person you have identified. The same principle applies to all who are doing jobs for nowt. Any idea how much that calibre of CEO would cost though?

| Quote The Prophet="The Prophet". If Keith, Phil, =#FF0000John and the woman who doesn't attend are not so inclined, then bring people in who might - just having RFL box tickers in place for a licence application no sane person could ever "beleighve" we have a snowballs in hell chance of getting is a total waste of everybody's time and effort.'"
Just to update you on the two highlighted directors:
John is just back at the club, from being 'head-hunted', into a new job, (the one that puts food on his family's table) by a big company who obviously think he has something to offer, and will be working with Rob, on commercial issues.
'The woman who doesn't attend' (I assume you allude to Miranda) is working tirelessly on seeking grants for the new Foundation. Arguably, this is the single most important development for the future of the club

| I always feel sorry for people who work as hard as mr Roddy and they're still struggling to put food on the table for the family.

| Oh how I've missed The Prophet's posts, I've never seen anyone able to write so articulately yet produce absolute e.
In an ideal world, when we have thousands to pay for this dynamic CEO, I'm sure Trevor would willingly step aside to let this Business God take over the reins (BTW how would the rest of the fans react at the thought of having to pay out such a sum for a new CEO when the one we have at the moment works for nowt).
Also, how would they react at having to pay out for a dedicated promotions team/match day organiser/solicitors/accountants etc?
How much do you think it would cost to employ John Roddy/Miranda/Keith Freer/Trevor etc who all give their time freely?
All of these things cost money and it's only through the generosity and dedication of various board members that we are still in business. Gone are the days when we have people on the board just because they have a bit of money to put into the club (unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many of those in Leigh anyway) instead we have board members who are experts in their own fields, and they bring all their knowledge to the table - free of charge.
Unfortunately, things don't get done as quickly as they would if we had a plethora of full time staff but those we do have lend their hand in any way they can, often doing jobs that aren't really in their contracts.
So whilst it's all very well for The Prophet to tell the club exactly where they're going wrong, unless he's willing to put his money where his mouth is - he's just talking shIte.

| I had a toot around at Fev on sunday and there was a feel of their plan "Destination Superleague" coming together, they are certainly working very hard in the community and are looking to get in new fans and targeting the youth structures, theres a classroom, a community bus etc, they are looking professional in their attempts too, good luck to them.
WE are just getting back from nearly going out of business, so it'll take a bit more time for us to catch up.

| Quote smk="smk"After having a couple of days to think about it, i accept the defeat and lets move on, my worry is how we constantly leave massive gaps and get sucked in on the wings, happens a lot when you watch closely, wingers need to stay put, the space the fev wingers centres had was ludicrous to say the least'"
At last someone who saw the same as i did there was some big gaps out on our wings when Fev scored .
As for folk having a go at Trevor B ,this is amazing , Trevor has worked his socks off for our club , and will continue to do so , the amount of work he puts in at the club is great , my message keep it going Trevor .
