Monday 30th of May 2011 is a very special day in the events diary of Leigh Centurions. That’s the day when a group of supporters will be taking part in the Morecambe Bay sponsored walk.
That’s the day when the Queens Guide Cedric Robinson escorts our group across the bay and on up to Kents Bank at Grange-Over-Sands to complete an 8 mile walk.
That’s the day that our supporters will record and raise thousands of pounds in sponsorship for the club for each walker will be required to raise through sponsorship £40.00 each that will give them a free bus ride to and from the fabulous Morecambe Bay, what a great day in store!
The walk is about 8 miles and includes crossing the channel of the River Kent. This is can be up to knee deep. The start of the walk is across a stony beach, and the end of the walk is across mud flats with gullies, which walkers need to be able to step or jump across. The walk proceeds at a reasonable pace and walkers need to be able to keep up. We advise that the walk is not suitable for children under 11 years old, unless they are used to reasonably strenuous walks. Under 16s should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
This should be a fabulous day so if you are interested please contact me either by telephone or email and I can send you a sponsor form. Numbers are limited so please be early to avoid disappointment.

Why go all the way to Morecambe? Save on the coaches and fuel and add the money you would have spent on these items and add it to the sponsorship fund. If the coaches were being paid for by the coach provider they could simply make a cash donation.
