Leigh Miners picked up another two points on the road yesterday with a tough 14-12 victory away at East Hull. In a game were both defences were strong throughout it was Miners who opened the scoring midway through the first half when Scott O’Brien put in centre Tom Bradbury to score out wide to give the visitors a 4-0 lead, Bradbury increased miners lead to six points with a penalty goal before East Hull replied with a length of the field try from a scrum to tie the game up at 6-6. Miners hit back with Tom Dawson breaking to send Scott O’Brien into score, Bradbury converting to put miners back in front at 12-6, Bradbury adding his second penalty goal right on half time to give miners a deserved 14-6 half time advantage.
The second half was tighter than the first with both teams defences on top throughout and with Easts scoring with just over ten minutes remaining to set up a tense finish it was miners who saw the game out with there defence sniffing out anything the home side threw at them to claim a very good 14-12 away victory.
Next week miners are at home to Siddal.
Miners 2nd team moved up to fourth in NWC Division One with a 28-24 victory away at Blackpool Scorpions in a Rearranged game as the original game against Folly Lane was postponed with Folly being involved in the Lancashire Cup yesterday
great win that up in hull ,1st half miners were class in 2nd miners let easts back into the game but some outstanding defence seen them getting the 2 points,the biggest cheer was when the coach got jammed so each and everyone of us had to pull it free,will never forget that,well done miners
