18604.jpg A good old saying is that footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they are injured. Rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending their not. Also there is no such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothes.:18604.jpg |

| SIDDAL 28 V 14 LEIGH MINERS
Leigh Miners hopes of reaching next weekends NCL Grand Final were ended yesterday as champions Siddal produced a strong second half performance to set up a showdown with Leigh East next Saturday. Siddal had all the ball in the opening few minutes but strong enthusiastic miners defence kept the host out. When miners got down into the Siddal half they looked dangerous and got the opening score of the game when centre Sam Gee powered is way over to give miners a 4-0 lead. Miners increased there lead soon after when winger Darryl Flannery broke inside his own half and with the miners attackers queuing up to score he found Scott O'Brien who dived over the line, Jonny Youds converting to give the visitors a 10-0 lead. Siddal got themselves back into the game near the end of the half with a well worked try but it was miners who took the lead into the break after a good opening half they deserved there 10-6 half time lead.
Siddal started the second period the stronger scoring an early try to bring the scores level at 10 each, and they took the lead for the first time in the match when they scored to quickfire tries out wide to take control of the game at 20-10. Miners got back within six points during the final quarter with a John Woods try but that was as close as it got for miners as Siddal increased there lead with a penalty goal before adding a final try in the final couple of minutes to run out 28-14 winners. It was a spirited performance by miners but with Siddal producing a strong second half performance they was deserved winners and will be eager to keep hold of there title next week against Leigh East.
