| Tomorrow’s game in Catalan still going ahead and a decision made tomorrow on the Giants v Salford game. Now me I would just cancel it all full stop, but that is just me. We have not had a state funeral since Winston Churchill, I guess a lot on here we’re not even have been born when that happened.
People have lived and died in her time in reign and a lot will not know how to deal with the with exception of the government and the royals as plans would already have been made.
What are peoples thoughts on wether the games go ahead or should be postponed. Please have respectful answers.

| It looks as though the majority of sporting events will not take place today (Friday). The Catalan game would have been difficult to rearrange due to travel.
Cancelling events, be they sporting or entertainment, means that the people involved will be losing their income. The funeral itself will be a Bank Holiday and, whilst it will not be mandatory for employers to give their staff paid leave, there will not doubt be an expectation for this to happen. I know that many people will feel that a single day isn’t much (whether you are a Royalist or not I think that we can all agree that 70 years is a decent shift) but imagine how you would feel if your wages were stopped during a period of mourning?
As they say, life goes on.

OP asked for thoughts, I gave my opinion without disrespecting anyone. That OK to have differing opinions to you?

Opinions are irrelevant. Respect is earned and deserved.

In your opinion. If you read the OP's post he asks for opinions. Maybe you should steer clear of posts that asks for people's thoughts as it might shock you to hear people have differing viewpoints to yourself. I'm not going to steer this topic into a back and forth debate with you so I won't be saying anymore to you about it. So have your last twopence.

| All football is off by the looks of it, so I expect RL will follow suit. Not sure where this'll leave the comp in terms of potential GF reschedule, or they'll just play the first playoff games mid-week

| Quote: BBC "The English Football League has also postponed its two games on Friday.
A decision on weekend Premier League and EFL fixtures will be made after a review of the official mourning guidance, plus consultation with other sports and the Department for Culture Media and Sport.
It is also scheduled to be the opening weekend of the Women's Super League and the Premiership Rugby season, while the Great North Run is due to take place on Sunday.
The Irish FA has announced that all football in Northern Ireland scheduled for this weekend will not take place.
The government's national mourning guidance states cancelling or postponing sports fixtures is not obligatory and "at the discretion of individual organisations", including on the day of the state funeral.
On the day of the funeral, the guidance suggests events could be rescheduled so that they do not clash with the timings of the service and that organisers could hold a period of silence or play the National Anthem at events, with players wearing black armbands.'"
With the GF date fixed, and the World Cup to follow, unlike football the RL hasn't got too much wriggle room.

| I feel as though many sporting organizations were waiting to see what others did.
With the Premier League calling off games, I expect everyone else to do so.
Whether you agree or not, the scenes over the next few days will show the regard the Queen was held in by the wider British public. If RL continues when all others don't, it'd be a terrible look for the sport.

| The game at Catalan will be difficult to move and may well go ahead as it's in France. The Huddersfield v Salford game could be moved to Sunday, as the St Leger race day is at Doncaster.

Me too. So that’s two. In a country with food banks I’m not a fan of giving one family millions of pounds of public money to live in palaces.

I agree that it would be a "terrible look" for the sport and when I first read karetaker's OP I thought it was a fair question.
No matter what your 'persuasion', as 100% Wire says we (the game) are on a tight schedule ahead of the World Cup and whilst I wouldn't anticipate the nation to be in full mourning 'for ever', there is it seems a Royal protocol that will be observed and the timings of these State Events will dictate the mood and inform who can do what when
