Premier Sports and RFL have signed a deal to televise RL Championship games for 2022 season onwards. They will also show some Challenge Cup games too.
Good news for those clubs that were due to lose a lot of the SKY funding.

Not so good for fans who have to take out another subscription and pay further cash if they want to see the games...

Take your point but it is still a good move for the game as a whole, no idea what the numbers are but to have another broadcaster on board can only be a good thing.

Agree with both points but crowds are not that high in the Championship anyway when games are played at the weekend so Monday night games are likely to present almost empty stadiums which might not look good. A bit like our Thursday night games, no consideration for the fans but every commercial deal must help I suppose.

I am not aware of any RL Championship league games that SKY have shown this season?
It would have been better, I agree, if one of the Terrestrial TV companies had chosen to show the games.
Hopefully, in the future, that will happen.

| I’m on a deal for all Sky Sports channels at £19.99 a month on NOW. So £12.99 for Premier Sports is very steep.
When they had NRL matches it was much better value.

| It's all a bit of a joke nowadays. Gone are the days when Sky pretty much dominated and you could find nearly everything in the one package.
Obviously, the Premier League football which, for most subscribers, was the reason for taking up a subscription, is now split into 3 different channels - Throw in La Liga, a previous staple of Sky, becoming it's own pay channel, and that's 4 different subscriptions just for the football.
We've also now got Eddie Hearn splitting his boxing from Sky and creating his own stream channel and there's another extra cost.
Throw in this RL deal with Premier Sports (ok, it's not a major sport, but still something some who already have a subscription elsewhere might want to see) and it's becoming quite the financial strain for the armchair sports fan.
What's the worst about this is that Sky, who have lost a lot of their content, have never cut their prices to compensate, instead battering their customers with politically correct sports like women's football, cricket and even RL and trying to promote it as quality sport, when, in reality, it's of an absolutely dire level, with little interest for the vast majority of people.

Was that the one where they always had a couple of fetching young ladies in very "strained" T Shirts stood at the front showing a remarkable interest in the "sporting action"....I never watched it myself...

| There are generally deals on to get it cheaper than that, plus my guess is most that subscribe will be Championship fans, so the additional to them will probably be more attractive. Games on a Monday night though, I'm sure the big clubs will be hoping they don't have their big games moved, could end up losing more money than the TV deal gives them.
Apparently the deal is a paid deal, somewhere in the low 6 figures I believe, so not a huge amount, but its a start.
I assume the OurLeague app will still be able to screen non televised games and will show SL games next season I guess, given Sky have waivered their exclusivity rights in the new deal, and have agreed to film and produce at all the non televised games in SL next year. I'm sure OurLeague will pick up that feed and we will see packages available for single games / weekend packages / monthly packages. Be interesting to see how it is packaged and how popular it is.

Unlikely though, noting the Ch5 have pulled their Premiership RU highlights programme, and they've no takers so far for their 5 live games (on terrestrial) package - so I can't see Championship RL being any more attractive.
