Coaching in professional RL is a thankless gig. You can overachieve and then things fall apart with one bad run. Happened to Chester, Paul Anderson and going back a few years, Shane McNally and John Pendlebury. Their head coaching careers ended very quickly. They don't get the multi million pound payoffs like they do in football either.
Feels like a lot of hard work for little reward and being doomed to be underappreciated. It's up there with being a health professional.

Always thought this but I have always wondered what sort of salaries Head Coaches in RL receive. Any ideas? |

No place for abuse to coaches even if you aren't happy it shouldn't be personal.
Chris Chester has always come across as a good rugby league man who did his best. Its a hard gig at any rugby league club except saints, Wigan and Leeds IMO. They have the best youth setups and the biggest draw in the transfer market.

I reckon there are no exceptions as regards abuse. Saints, Wigan & Leeds have their fair share of nutters. |

At Leeds Brian McDermott got stick from his first season right through to his last. A section of their fanbase didn't rate him from the start and campaigned every year to get him out.
Imagine how annoyed you'd be if the coach you hated kept winning the Grand Final so you knew he was always getting another year. At least we know if Price wins the Grand Final this year we'll be shut of him forever.
