Rooster 8 vs Raiders 6. HT

Is it me or are the commentary team blowing up a paper bag about this game?
I'm finding it dull at times. 5 up and kick. Stoppages and back staff all over the pitch with headgear and a water pitcher.

Or perhaps it is the all super final they're saying?

It's OK, but I'm hardly thrilled.

Typical modern RL. 2 good, evenly matched teams cancelling each other out. Unfortunately, this is now the game. Gone are the days of a Wigan/Hull from the 80's style cup finals. Flair has been eliminated, to make way for defensive brawn... When was the last time we saw an entertaining Cup Final, either here or in Australia?

As for today, that refereeing decision to win it for Sydney was absolutely scandalous. 2 refs on the pitch and still that happens.

2nd half was better than the 1st.
Roosters always looked to have something left for the back end.

Interesting that both sets of players were out on their feet at the end. Not something we see in our game...so maybe I've a lot to learn.

You guys obviously watched a different game to me. I thought it was terrific. The score being so close made it compelling to keep watching. I wanted the Raiders to win with having the English lads in there but happy for Cronk. Thought the back to 6 ref reverse decision changed the game.

2 refs on the pitch and the still can’t call it correctly. I would hate to lose the GF on that call especially as the Roosters scored on the same set of 6.

Terrible call by Cummins to wave 6 to go then change his mind, got to feel for the Canberra players as they were the better side for the majority of the game.

He corrected a wrong decision...
The scenario could have been much worse had Canberra scored off an extra 6 that clearly wasn't to all but the head ref.
Even so... Raiders had good field position to defend a set of 6...the ref didn't have to do the tackling for them while Roosters went 70 meters.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it was a bad game - it's closeness of score kept it interesting and worth watching - I was just pointing out that this is modern RL at its best. If you want 'flair' in your sport then modern RL simply isn't for you.

What's always funny is that RL fans have always seen their sport as the open, entertaining brand of Rugby compared to Union. In reality, in the last 20 years, RL has slowly took on all the qualities that we used to bash RU for - Emphasis on strong defence, structured 'boring' attacking moves and, most of all, making territorial advantage key, through tactical kicking.

While many believe that Union has made efforts to be more like League, it's more realistic to say that we have as much made efforts to take on Union tactics to our game.

How great to see a RL showpiece in front of a big crowd though. Like most events played in front of a noisy, appreciative crowd it[ifelt[/i like an event whatever you thought of the quality of the play.

Wonder how many will be at Old Trafford for the final hurrah?

Wasn`t Roosters first try a bit of joke too coming off the Physio`s head which resulted in a scrum which I think they scored from?

Correct call, tho that rule really does need changing pronto.

It won`t be long before a team sends the Physio or water carrier on just to hold up the game
Bit of a freak incident that tbf but two tries that in normal circumstances may not have stood.

Should change it to a penalty if a teams physio/waterboy/whatever interferes. Didn't agree with the sin binning either, wasn't a "professional foul" at all, was just a fractionally mis-timed tackle.
