| Has anybody heard the rumours regarding Gelling and Keanan Brand from Widnes. Also heard that we have turned down Burgess. Also heard Rangi Chase is looking for a club. Would take him now.

| I'd love to see Rangi Chase at his best....however he's drew more lines than Tony Hart.
It's only time.

| Rangi Chase isn't what you need. He's another maverick like Austin and won't improve anything. Your problem is your pack, they aren't winning enough battles meaning Patton is always under pressure. If you had another one or two decent forwards to spell with Hill and Cooper you would go forward more and Patton's role would be shifting the ball on to the flanks and kicking, both of which he can do perfectly well.

You don't know how true you are.
Yes we can do better than Patton but you can name any half you want...behind a beaten pack it's as big a waste as Rangi's career.

| Everybody has heard the rumours about Gelling, Keanan Brand has been mentioned also. We didn't turn down Burgess as he's not been offered to us, we've looked at him and realised his wage will be massive and only a club with a Marquee spot could afford him. Rangi chase i would swap for the rest of this season with Patton but he's signed with Doncaster, and we have Widdop next year so he's not needed. A couple of hard hitting big minutes Props are what we need.

Nearly spot on yet again Saddened but even with a good pack Patton wouldn’t still be good enough for me.

| Assuming Pattons gone next season will we need to recruit a new scapegoat or is there someone in the squad already that could do the job?

Scapegoats are usually crap players! If Toby king is playing next season, he could take up the mantle no problem.

As 50% of players are below average, I'll settle for that.

Yes, we have several average players in the squad. However, they are playing in postions where we can get away with it and our league position confirms that.
Patton is playing in the key attacking hub of the team, and his shortcomings have a significant impact on the attacking fluidity of the team and also the effectiveness of his half back partner.

| Let's see what front row we have at Cas.
If it's just Hill and Tasi...we're toast again whomever at at 7.

| I just hope our season doesn't spiral out of control just like Wolfie's aeroplane. Every team seems to have the measure of us....quick ,on rushing defence & we are struggling.

Not strictly true. 50% would apply to the median rather than the mean (average) - but I'm being pedantic.
Patton is Championship, or lower reaches of Super League, standard. He's not up to what is required from a starting half back in a Super League club who are challenging for silverware, but the point is - that's not why he's in the squad. His role at the start of the season was that of third half back. With Austin and Brown fit he would either be out on loan or holding down a bench place as interchange hooker. I don't know what salary he's on but I would imagine that his contract is appropriate for that level.
The failure is not Patton's, it is a failure to recruit a starting half back when we got relief against the salary cap when Brown picked up his pre-season injury. That said, half backs don't grow on trees so maybe the club tried and failed. If everything goes to plan and we start next season with Austin and Widdop fit and ready to play then having Patton on the books isn't such a bad option.
