| The word on Twitter (@AaronBower Guardian journalist) is that you are once again in advanced talks to sign Kyle Eastmond and are confident of bringing him back to Super League.
Got to question whether it's the annual move to bump up his next Union contract or whether he's finally given up on his dream of making it at international level in Union.
But if he's genuine this time, are you pleased/excited? IMO he was the best English prospect I've seen in my 30 years watching the game and it was criminal that he was allowed to go to Union. I've not seen a single game he's played since leaving Saints 7 years ago so have no idea what shape he's in and whether the pace/abillity is still there. It could be a risk and Twitter is also full of the inevitable mocking from Saints fans still fixated on his bad attitude and injury proneness. But he was like many young kids, distracted by the bright lights and cashola. Maybe this could be the masterstroke that finally pushes you to win a Grand Final? If he was still as good as he was in 2010, there would only be Barba better than him in Super League these days.
I'd imagine it's a signing for now, as it certainly seems he's not wanted by his current club and their season is over. He was on big money in Union, but not sure if he's made his dough and just looking for a route back in or whether you're looking to compete with that level by making him a marquee?

| You would think a better prospect would be to hold on to Patten at all costs & create a better player from the spare rib of Lee Briers guidance than sign a player who has given his best years to Union & is in the market only for big bucks.

| I've not watched much Union this year but he has looked pretty sharp prior to that. He ought to be very useful.

| He’s been fine in Union but away far too long from league to justify wasting money like that, cap exemptions or not.
If he takes two years to readjust (IF he can readjust) then that’s two years of Moran’s money that could be better spent on transfer fees for young SL backs like Johnstone etc.

| ...and where are we supposed to play him? Far better centres than him around and defensively could be easily caught out until he gets used to league again. That’s before the injury history.

| He'd play stand off and it might take him a couple of weeks to adjust.

| Mmmm... not convinced. If he was here on a cheap deal trying to earn a contract I’d be all over it, but it’s an expensive gamble. Still, Moran’s money not mine so who am I to argue?

| I think the biggest gamble will be the achilles injury that he has. If OK I think he'll still be a very good running stand off. The big problem is that there are not many about who want to play in Super League.

| Why would we wait for 2019? He is available now. I wonder if Roberts will get his release and Eastmond comes in..

| With the potential of Brown retiring and Roberts returning to Oz then we need to taking action now rather than later. Like most I’ve not seen much of Eastman over the last few years and his injury record is also a worry. Could we have Eastman and Patton as our halves in 2019?
