| Do you think he is done as one of the best players in the league? Watching the game against Hull, and him this season he has lost a couple of yards of pace.
It was almost embarrassing at times today how he kept shipping the ball onto a relative rookie in Tierney rather than ever running at the line, again in structured moves he just keep cutting inside and giving aimless passes to forwards.
Example of a player who was very reliant on acceleration which he won't get back, and he is still suspect under the high ball and defensively.
Its a shame for england as our two best fullbacks have gone completely off the boil.

| Maybe the knee injury he had as made a big difference to him.

| Good for Ratchford.
Tomkins looks shot, they need to try him out in the halves, he's been totally found out at FB

| As a Leeds fan, McGuire looked shot after his knee injury 2010/2011 but he adapted his game to compensate for his loss of pace. Granted he's had his struggles but he was MOM in the 2015 GF and in a lot of people's eyes e true MOM in the 2014 CC final.....but it took him time to adapt. Perhaps Tomkins can do the same but he needs to adapt quickly because Williams can't carry that team in attack on his own.

| Def not the player he was before he left for Aus but he's still young enough to come back to his best.

| It's difficult to come back bouncing mid season from the op and the time he has had out of the game.
I think we are all guilty of expecting him to be as good as he was when he laft the Pie dome.
He'll come good. I think it's likely to be after he has had a pre season though.

| He will move up in to a half back slot before long. He has great craft and slight of hand, reads the game well also.
Re: bringing the ball back, I don't mind it to a point. If it was Gareth O'Brien handing it off to Vidot or Carney it makes perfect sense, big fella's winding up and making serious meters, but palming it off to a kid to get manhandled and pushed back doesn't add up.

| What injury did he have? I assume one of the cruciates but he did play on with the rupture for some time.

| His attack has suffered but his defence is immense since leaving for NRL.
Different player to the one that left

You would use the word immense to describe Tomkins defensively? I think he has improved from being woeful before he left, to being slightly below average defensively now.
As others have mentioned he will have to move into the halves sooner rather than later because he is a passenger at times in games, and a team like Wigan cannot afford that if they want to win trophies.

| Tompkins hype was over after the semi final V Leeds before he went to Oz. That day, Leeds took a leaf out of our playbook and hit him with bomb after bomb. Tompkins got rattled, had a lousy game and from the point on "how to play Tompkins" was know right across the rugby playing world.

I would hardly call his defence as being immense,Far from it tbh
For 2 weeks running he has misjudged grubber kicks through that he should have diffused with ease but he didn't and tries were conceded as a result
Sam sadly looks a pale shadow of the player that left our competition as a super star
