| Do you not remember Zak Hardaker's alleged homophobic comments to Child ?
Do you think that he will have casually deleted these from his memory banks?
I am more worried about his officiating on Friday than you are pal

Child was also the referee in our victory at Headingley.

| Much happier with Childs than Silverwood. We find it very difficult to win any games under Silverwood. Only won 2 of 6 with Silverwood officiating. Childs may make mistakes but Silverwood just cheats.

Could it be that this season we are finding it difficult to win any games regardless of who the ref is ? We need a strategy of offside at every play the ball & an "in yer face" attitude that is the trade mark of all the successful play off sides. Time for Miss Goody 2 Shoes to take the gloves off & get stuck in ! Although skill is involved, the winners in RL have the nouse to bend the rules to win knowing the ref will do sweet fa.

| Could it be that Silverwood is a senior ref and always given the responsibility of the big games? Being an average team this season, we are generally second best to the Pies and Stains because that is a measure of our ability.
Therefore it would be fare to say Child's being a less senior ref is handed the games that would be considered easier to officiate and less likely to be intense. Like a big team at home against one from near the foot of the table.

| With all other refs win loss percentage stacks up with our overall win loss percentage. With Silverwood its way way down. If you can bear it, look at game on weekend. Warrington back 12-13 metres, Hull KR back 9 metres for large parts of game. Silverwood checking every decision that may have gone our way with touch judges, video ref. If they lost ball, strip penalty, if we lose ball, knock on. You have to be very very dominant in a game to overcome Silverwood bias when reffing us and lets face it, we cant cope with cheating refs this season

Lol. Amazing. It really is a game where you see what you want to see.
Please watch again the offside decisions, how many did HKR get? Believe to be zero. Yet there was one set in particular where Wire were offside on every single tackle! Yet when Wire needed it, got an offside (correct decision) and scored off the back of it.
All im saying is, you can make it look like anything you want...if you only pick the parts that suit.

Isn't that another measure, leeds were selectively spelling Sinfield and Burrow and blooding Sutcliffe in games they could afford to loose and did so in many of those.

| You obviously haven't seen wires games with silverwood!! I did say for large parts and not picking small incidents. I could have mantioned obvious knock on by your winger call ed knock back ect ect. Not talking about penalties given or conceded either just where he marked the 10 metres. Ref very inconsistent here.

Is that not part of the problem though? He gets the big games solely because he's a senior ref and has been doing the job longer. What about the guys that bust their gut in the lower leagues performing admirably week in, week out. People like Tom Crashley, Dave Merrick, Chris Leatherbarrow, Jamie Bloem. Where's their look in? Joe Cobb has come up to become a full time ref and he seems to be decent but already he's getting stick for poor performances.
Matt Thomason was a decent ref, done a few SL games and was a mainstay in the Championship. Apparently he's quit because he didn't like the way things were being run in the match officials department.
I think that's the issue with the refs; Silverwood knows he's been in the job since the late 90s, he can screw up and know he'll still get a big game due to his experience and seniority. Same with Bentham.
The idea is to be rewarded for good performance and scolded for bad performances. That doesn't happen. Silverwood could have a shocker one week, yet will get a Sky game the following week, or a trip to Perpignan. He won't get demoted for his bad performance. Someone reffing the championship could have a blinder, yet will never get the chance in SL, mainly due to the full time issue.
The RFL lost Karl Kirkpatrick when the refs went full time as he didn't want to give up his banking job. At the time, he was one of, if not, the best referee at the time (his last game was the 2006 Grand Final IIRC). Since the refs have gone FT, I don't think they have improved that much. They are still making errors, relying on the Video Refs too much and now that Jon Sharp has left (or been sacked if you believe the rumours), who is currently in charge over there?
I've qualified as a ref and I've done a few games and know how difficult it can be, but something stinks at Red Hall and it doesn't seem to be going away, especially now that Sharp and Thomason have left.

I don't see what that has to do with Child giving us most 50/50 decisions that night? Although bounce of the ball went our way that night also (Harrison kick for Monoghan to name one piece of luck)....
..don't get me wrong, Child is still dog dirt.

I think the problem we have is that the RFL think that ATM they have 5/6 SL standard Referees...as such, these need to ref each and every week. For me, this creates problems and can have a bearing on how the refs are dealt with in terms of poor performance...long gone are the days of 'he will be in charge of Hunslet v Dewsbury next week'. They simply do not have the recourses to do this anymore. With that in mind do the current SL crop therefore think they are untouchable (droppable to put it another way)? If the RFL are not willing to give the championship refs a go, then for me, this mind set could easily happen.
