| I know he's a kid and inexperienced but that doesn't mean we should continue to allow him to run a team that isn't too hot right now anyway, that just makes us more average. I dont know what his stats are and if they are good then colour me surprised but he is non existent in games for me, I don't see much spark from him. Cant say our kicking game has improved any either. I'd rather see GOB in there if that's the case, at the very least he will take the ball to the line and come up with the odd bit of magic in a game. Anything Ive seen Patton do, GOB has been doing this season. GOB will try things that don't come off or see him hammered but he will also create things that come off. I don't know if Patton is being told to play it safe and boring but he might as well be off the pitch in a game because he hasn't stood out for me, if he can't do that in an average team like ours this season then I fear for him.

Yep here we go with people responding to posts they disagree with in a condescending manner as oppose to actually offering up reasons as to why they disagree. Same old same old.

| Interesting this debate about which young half back is better.
Tune into to Batley vs Dewsbury, Scott Leatherbarrow is lining up for Batley.
now this kid was going to be the real deal....If I remember rightly somehow as a teenager we stole him from under the noses of Wigan......
He was a massive prospect ...he never even got a first team game for us.

| Patton moves the ball quickly from left to right with ease thus tending to appear invisible, I think he does a lot of unnoticed work offers lots voice has pace and a good rugby sense, sure he's young and has to learn but I see plenty in him for the future, I also like O'Brien (sounds like that advert) and feel he has lots to offer, at the moment Patton has the shirt and deserves it.

he clearly gets more height on his bombs that's not in doubt but O Brien has never been as anonymous during games as Patten has since his debut game....
Its beginning to be a real concern.

| I've seen GOB being sheepish.
When partnered Bridge last season, he came across like a rabbit under a headlight.
Patton on the other hand was willing to get dirty hands from minute one.

| Patton does all the right things very well. He doesn't do anything magic which doesn't make him stand out. However for anyone with any knowledge of rugby, or those who have played the game, when you watch Patton play you can see just how good he is. It's not just what you do on the ball, it's also what you do off it. He's done everything right and nothing wrong. He takes the ball to the line and passes it out. He runs good lines and reads the game very well and calls the right plays. He kicks to the right channels and more often than not finds the ground.
To say he's invisible on the pitch is laughable.

Bingo.
This thread and it's title is insulting to a young lad with heaps of potential.

| Remind me, how many first team games has he played? Cannot believe some are writing him off already. We have to give him time, he has done nothing wrong and if we buy a decent experienced half next season then that will help his development immeasurably.

| It appears if you're playing in the halves and you're not Andrew Johns you aren't doing anything. I have a boom/bust cycle theory when it comes to halves coming into our team.
Player has a solid first couple of games, touted as the answer to our problems -> Carries on performing to roughly the same standard but people get used to him so don't pay as much attention to him -> Calls that he doesn't do enough -> Player gets dropped/injured -> New half has a solid first couple of games, touted as the answer to our problems
Rinse and repeat.
