Just a quick note to let you know that we held our planned barbecue as part of the fund-raising programme for Greg Mackey at the Pewterspear Cricket Pavilion in Stretton on Sunday.
It was attended by many of those who knew Greg, wife Amanda and their children within the local community and at Stretton St. Matthews School. As a result of the generosity of those attending and from a myriad of local businesses who donated produce for the event, a total of £934 was raised and this has been disbursed through the JustGiving site.
Attention now turns firmly to the benefit dinner in the Martin Dawes Suite at the Halliwell Jones on 29th. September 2014. We have put together a wonderful list of top guest speakers (Paul Cullen, Paul Sculthorpe, Iestyn Harris and Jamie Peacock) with a presentation team involving Eddie Hemmings, Brian Carney and Angela Powers and the attendance and support of a growing list of players with whom Greg turned out for in the primrose & blue.
None of these took any persuading to join us for the evening, their memories of Greg and indebtedness to him prompting an immediate and sincere desire to get involved in the fund-raising.
Their commitment to this event is a challenge to the fans of Warrington to reward their support with a capacity turn-out at the HJ on the evening of the event.
Tickets for the event (which, of course, includes a two-course dinner and all the entertainment that the guest list promises) are reasonably priced at £35 bearing in mind the quality and quantity of those attending.
Tickets can be booked on-line by visiting:-

We shall be having a final drive for the event in the concourses and in all the hospitality areas and boxes on Saturday.
Please support the event and show the rest of the rugby league world that we really are the best supporters in the sport and that we really care about the players who have given us so much pleasure in the past.
Thankyou
