Can I bring the attention of everybody to the Just Giving site that Paul Cullen has been instrumental in helping to establish in connection with senior people at the club and the Warrington Wolves Foundation.
This is a secure site on which you can donate with or without Gift Aid and where you can feel safe that your donation will find its way fully to the cause for which it was made.
It's very simple - just follow the link and then the instructions.
www.justgiving.com/Greg-mackey7
In conjunction with a number of my friends who also knew Greg very well during his time in Warrington, as much for his commitment to community as his rugby, and with the assistance of the Players Association, the Club, the Vice Presidents and the Supporters Trust, I am also arranging a number of fund-raising events to run alongside the JustGiving site.
These will culminate in a dinner at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, probably at the back end of September when the availability of individuals who we see as key as maximising interest and take-up of the event have been confirmed.
I shall post regularly here as we put more and more meat on the preparations as well as in all the other places which I trust will evince a massive response.
There is a huge affection for Greg, wife Amanda and three children (Kane, Ebony and Tom) from all who ever came into contact with them and that goodwill from the community in Appleton and Stretton where they lived during his second spell with the club will be an important factor in the fund-raising activities. Apart from his rugby skills and determination on the pitch, he is a passionate family man and that embodies itself in his community spirit. I was PTA chairman of the school which both my son and his children attended and Greg and Amanda were ever willing to help out with any events we held, and that spilled over into a social friendship which I continue to cherish, even though I have not seen him for almost 9 years now. I also know that he was an equal ambassador for the Club, representing it at many different functions without question or complaint ... and always with that cocky smile and tip of the head.
Please find it in your hearts (and pockets) to support Greg and his family during these difficult times by visiting the JustGiving site and making a donation or by supporting some or all of the events which we shall be staging over the next couple of months or so. We shall be attempting to ensure that the events are fun, entertaining and interesting, and with the opportunity of reminiscing with a host of people who were part of Greg's life both in rugby and the community in those days nearly 20 years ago.
Many thanks for your support and keep watching this space ....

We are continuing to make strides in organising the dinner and will post full details of that and other events as soon as we can.
We are planning to attract as many big names from Greg's past as we can and, while the willingness of everybody to get involved is not an issue, the logistical exercise of finding a date to suit everybody is.
There are a number of factors constraining the timescale of events which mean that we shall be attempting to cram them all in the period up to the end of September, with the dinner the culminating event at the back end of that month.
We hope to have a clearer picture of everything by the beginning of next week.
In the meantime, one of the events that we were keen on planning was a quiz night similar to the annual Supporters Trust quiz, but involving past as opposed to current players and possibly with a greater degree of light-heartedness and quirkiness. Greg was a keen quizzer (at the very least, he enjoyed the social side of it and the wit and repartie that used to be thrown around the monthly quiz night at the Appleton Thorn Village Hall where he was invariably a member of our team). We will market the evening as "Brainstorm For Bluey" but need to ascertain the level of interest before deciding on a venue.
We would like to think that we can fill the Martin Dawes Suite for this event in the same way that the ST annual quiz does, so it would be useful if posters on here and those who regularly partake in the Supporters Trust event could express an interest by e-mailing me at richard.shanks54@gmail.com.
Many thanks to all those who have already committed their support.

| No problem, Stuart - it can wait until you get back. Enough work in the meantime finalising a date for the dinner to accomodate all those big names who are keen to support it and then geting the details planned and the marketing in place.

| Hello Stuart,
Can we meet up on Saturday - I have asked Neil to arrange all-areas passes so that we can have a final surge on selling the dinner at the Widnes game. Whilst we should have a reasonable turn-out, take-up from the regular contributors to this forum has been extremely disappointing to say the least!!!
Either that, or I'm around early this evening for a meet with Cull, so could meet then.
Cheers
Richard
