can we?? or are we happy to just coast along around 5th 6th or even 7th...what i would like is for us to win it from 6th or so on just to get under the skin of those numpties at sky and see what they say..

I don't see us finishing lower than 4th.

I thought 5th at the start of the season and still do. Our E.O.S. run in is dreadful, i think we might come a cropper resting people in preparation for the playoffs if 1st isn't achievable by that point.

It's Warrington fans that are most bothered about clubs winning it from lower league positions, never mind Eddie and Stevo.

Most other clubs fans just accept that the League Leaders Shield is a (lesser) trophy in its own right but the rules of the game are the champions are the Grand Final winners. Even Hudds fans last year who never win anything, seemed to accept it.

But that year we topped the league and then lost to Leeds in the playoffs.....it was like the biggest travesty in the history of sport to some Wire fans. Even that local business leader guy got in on the act complaining about how we should have been honoured for winning the title.

Yes, of course we can do it. One slight consolation over the fact that Grix, Wood, Waterhouse, Westwood & Harrison have all had lengthy spells on the sidelines during the season is that if we can get them fit, some game time under there belt and they stay injury-free they should be fresh for the run-in and play-offs.

Having said that, I'd tend to agree it doesn't really matter and Friday notwithstanding, our home form has been poor so maybe we're better finishing lower!

I'd say, with our run of games up to the end of August, we have a very good chance of finishing 3rd or 4th.

But for that to happen the teams above need to slip up. Cas play Wigan and Saints back to back and Wigan play Saints soon too so it's possible for us to get our heads down and just keep performing and wait for them to drop points and knock the s*** out of each other in the process.
