| Who is it that decides when to take the two? Is it Tony Smith? or other members of the coaching team? With little more than one and a half minutes left on the clock before the half time hooter and a penalty is given within kicking range, why do five or six players all start looking to the bench (bobbing their heads up like demented meerkats) with two fingers raised, questioning whether we should kick for the two or not? Surely their brains can work out that is what is required without needing clarification from the bench? Or do team orders come into play?

| Perhaps they should make a penalty 3 points?

| perhaps we should add lineouts, contest the scrum, allow mauling and rucking. scrap the tackle count and just call it rugby instead of league. this may not help us with the club teams but think the international game will flourish especially in the south!

| We are notoriously bad (some say arrogant) for taking the two, Sunday shows that sometimes it's a necessary evil.

Not at all Mike.
Dont you think foul play should be punished?
Is 2 points enough?
I'm not for one second saying have 3 points for a drop goal and conversation. They stay as they are, 3 points only for penalties.

| ye i get your point, but imo there nothing wrong with the game and wouldnt change anything, all the scores yesterday came from penalties conceded so think it punishes enough to give away the free metres.
you only score 4 points for a try why risk bombing the chance to score for one more point. ye u get conv. as well but that's not a given depending were u score.
the gd point to increasing it to 3 points would be players might not give away as many penalties as much. so it has positives but it just promotes dull rugby imo.

or maybe we are no longer very confident in our ability in attack. Taking the 2 might become a feature of our season, unfortunately.

Really?
So when we had a penalty to the left of the sticks, 20m out when 18-8 up in the 2nd half, why did we decide to tap it instead if we are no longer confident in our ability to attack?

| there was still over a minute left when we got the penalty, enough to complete the set. Over the last few seasons, Lee Briers would have been kicking that ball into the corner without any shadow of a doubt. The point i was making is that the way our attack is at the minute, then taking the 2 might become a bit more frequent in our play this season.

| The proof of this particular 'pudding' was that we won surely?
Also on this occassion taking the two was the right decision based on the fact that it extended our lead just before half time, ten/twenty minutes earlier it might have looked like a sign of weakness a la Leeds in the Cup Final. I think we will continue to run more than we kick all things being equal

| Taking the 2 was definitely the best option ,with our attack being as laboured as it is at present i doubt we would have had enough time to cross the line.

| If we had "taken the two" at the grand final just before half time when we were 16-2 up, instead of Bridge being forced into touch on the first tackle, then Joel would not have got injured when he did, and Wigan probably wouldn't have had enough time to kick off and regain possession in order to score their try.
A whole different outcome, possibly.
It still rankles.
