| Am I imagining things, or is Tomkins either having a stinker of a WC, or is he carrying an injury? He was far from brilliant in the previous two games, but I thought he was shocking today. Apart from the let off with the first try, did any else notice the number of times he fell off or seemed to back out of tackles?

| Far too much lateral running, yesterday.
I thought he'd turned into a crab!

| He is not as good as he thinks he is.
Westwood was terrific yesterday as were Burgess, Hall and Hill.

I though he had turned into Dean Gaskell.

| If Tomkins had played for any other team but Wigan he would not have had all the publicity and the likes of Eddie and Stevo raving about him every week, I really do think he is mediocre and will get found out next year down under, may well come back and join his brother in union.

| Have a word with yourselves. Tomkins is still a sensational attacking player. His broken field running is as good as any player I've seen on either side of the globe and his chiming into the line is unstoppable at times.
He still has a rat's physique however. His coaches know this and don't want him getting injured. At Wigan this means them giving up 20m a set by having him pass to a winger rather than running it back and he's always avoided heavy challenges where possible, often letting players score unopposed rather than throwing himself in front of it in the hope of dislodging the ball.
Him not looking great in the World Cup isn't a surprise as this England side is pretty shocking. The pack is poor and took an hour to get on top of Fiji and the halves are appalling at this level. It's saying a lot when Scotland have better halves than England does. Sinfield is an inspirational player at SL level, but he's never an international halfback. Chase is a pocket wizard, but needs to be with a proper halfback. Quite why Widdop isn't playing more is beyond me. He's an established NRL halfback, having played in some enormous games. Yet we prefer to move a sub-world-class 13 to the halves rather than play him. Brough and Widdop should have been our halves for this tournament. McNamara should have been sacked for his handling of the Brough situation alone.

| 400 metres
5 assists
1 missed tackle
What are you all on!
If he had scored 6 tries you'd be calling him greedy.

In Smith we trust:Black Backgrounds/Animal.gif |

| Let's see how he plays from here on in against the top 8 teams of whoever we draw. Is it possible that England don't just play to his tune as Wigan did. Let's not take it away he was good playing in a 5 team tier within a Leauge of others. It will be a lot more demanding once he starts in the NRL where games are tough week in week out. Got to give him some credit for giving it a go as he could come back with a smacked backside before his contract is up.

I was sat next to a lad from Nottingham yesterday who had never watched RL before so had no clue who 'Number 1' was or who he plays for, yet he had enough nouse to see that the lad has some real talent.
I noticed he had K tape up his legs suggesting he was carrying some kind of injury.

| Good grief, Wire2000, come on. Sam is a star of our game despite playing for the Pie. Just because he doesn't play for us doesn't mean he cannot be a superb player. I wish him well down under and hope he is a great success.

Well only time will tell, we will have to see. He,s been the best player in super league by a country mile for the past 5 years, and people talking about his build well brett hodgson was,nt the biggest full back and he did ok in the nrl.

| He's played ok by his own standard, no more and no less. He has been pretty solid in defence aside from his error that he got away with yesterday and is 2nd I believe for try assists in the competition.
As an England fan I'm excited more then worried that the guy has more to give. He can and will play better IMO and if we want to do something in this world cup all fans need to get behind him and the side. He is a special talent and along with Sam Burgess has that X factor that could take us to a shock victory against an Australian side at Old Trafford (if we pull of a bit of a shock win against the Kiwis).
