Albert (Allie) Naughton died on September 27 and the black armbands were a mark of respect. Allie was a classy centre and later loose forward who was Wire captain the last time we won the championship. He was also a world cup winner with GB.

why was nothing mentioned about it? or even a minutes silence?

A) The club announced it on their website rlhererl.

B) The Grand Final is an RFL event. It is up to them whether a minutes silence is held before each game. I have only known a minutes silence to have occurred once prior to a Grand Final, and that was for Terry Newton who had passed on in the week leading up to the match.
