strange one but looking forward to see how he goes. if he hadnt improved the club wouldnt have give him another shot. be a good injection of pace into the backline and more competition to riley than williams ever has been.

This seems strange to me. Does anyone feel that his defence has improved to the point of SL quality?

Penny was at times sensational in attack which made great viewing for any rugby league fan, I hope he has developed his all round game so we can see more of him.

Feel sorry for the way it ended for him. He was full of passion and enthusiasm, but maybe fell for the trap of riding the wave of highs and lows. Much like Paul Cullen to a point.

They were a little bit close, couldn't see the bigger picture. Bouncing and beaming when it was going well, but when it didn't go so well, they were down and it's hard to find the way back. I hope now that he has learned the lesson and gets on with the job regardless of whether he has scored a wonder try, or dropped a dolly.

Tony has obviously weighed this up and concluded that Kevin has matured as a player and as a person, and it's great to see a player get a second chance. Especially one with as much heart as Penny.

Are Monaghan and Riley still going to be there next season? If so, Penny is not likely to play much is he?

It's a squad game. You can pour all your resources into building the best pack in the league as Saints have, or try to build a bit more depth into the squad. We seem to have gone down the latter route.

Not sure why you have chosen to use my post as an excuse to have a dig at Saints; it was a genuine question about how you'll line-up next year as I wasn't sure if Monaghan was leaving or not.

Joel Monaghan has signed a contract extension at Wire and is still here next season. With regards to Penny I'll never forget his try v Salford at home from a briefs kick from a scrum, the try against Saints at Knowsley Road and the k kick on out of his hands on the 20m restart .
Whilst he displayed glimpses of brilliance he also had some shockers. All that said, he's worked hard and to have got the praise from Gary Chambers that has brought him back into the thoughts of Tony Smith shows how hard he's worked. Credit to Penny he could have gone onto the heap of past forgotten players thinking of "Only if"?
Will be interesting to see how we line up next season. I just hope he left the silly back slapping and jumping up and down antics at Widnes.
