| Greg Mullholland MP informed the Prime minister at PMQ's yesterday that Dave Vallentine raised the
trophy after beating Australia in the first rugby World Cup in 1954.
He then announced this years RLWC being hosted in this country, the first multinational event since the Olympics last year, and asked if the government would be supporting the event. He also asked the PM if he would attend one of the
games.
David Cameron answered that he would support the event in any way he could.
What about the RFL asking him to present the trophy ? (Guaranteed publicity).
Probably a silly suggestion though, I'm sure the wonderful marketing team at Red Hall will be well on with it. They
will have lined up some totally unkown from their admin department to cover it.
Well done to Greg Mullholland for his initiative though. Not sure who he is or which party he's from.

| Considering the patriotic element of the RLWC, & the BBC claiming to be the torch bearer for worldwide broadcasting , we should really expect BBC blanket coverage of the event on a par with football of both sexes ,tennis, athletics, snooker & rugby union & any other sport that is not called Rugby League !
Maybe a well timed letter to our respective MPs would help to concentrate the minds of BBC bosses.

| Wow !
Could you imagine the vitriol on these forums if Cameron was to present the RLWC to England, even after we'd thrashed them in the final.

| The mere mention of Rugby League by people outside RL in the media or on a public stage and people getting hard?

They should get him to turn up to PMQs in an England top.

Too late. All the BBC have got is; "For this year's tournament, there will be live TV and radio coverage of all England's group games, plus a quarter-final, a semi-final and the final." That makes, what(?), seven games in total? Seven out of twenty-eight...a quarter or, in other words, a joke.
Premier Sports have every one of the twenty-eight and how many people in the general public have PS? I'm guessing not many at all. So the opportunity to get our game out there to he public will not happen with this WC.

Why not get PS for the tournament then?
I would have thought that for top class international sport people would sign up to PS and that would be a signal to other TV providers that RL is a sport that people want to watch.
