For me the main objective of the new format needs to bring back promotion and relegation.
How this acheived there appears 2 different methods, for me I am not bothered which is introduced.
Although I can see trouble on the horizon if the 3 divisions is adopted, around fans purchasing season tickets in advance not knowing who their club is going to be playing in terms of standards for the majority of the season !!

Why on earth does it? Which clubs are there that could realistically be promoted and not turn in farcical performances in SL? None of them. They are all semi pro and moving up to Super League would be a direct choice between finishing the season with 0 points or going bankrupt.

The clubs going the other way would possibly also face doom. London for one wouldn't come back from it and it's doubtful Castleford and Wakefield would either. Salford's sugar Daddy would ditch them if they went.

Seriously, what good does promotion and relegation do?

It is the clubs that decide, not the RFL. I quite like the revised proposal, hope the game votes to introduce it.

So the below results from Last years Challenge Cup when Semi-Pro as in Championship Met Pro as in SLR weren't competitve ?? I beg to differ.

As for the financial points, there are ways around this via parachutte payments etc

Threads on this site for months have debated the lack of p and r along with current playoff system being the cause of loss of all round interest in the weekly rounds.

Species loosing interest in weekly rounds is the biggest risk to the game, as a reduction in season ticket revenue will hurt clubs.

RFL are looking at ways of re-installing the interest in weekly rounds IMO, each option has its pros and cons !!

if that wasn't the point you were trying to make, im now even more confused than after your original post.

If we are going to have semi pro teams in as well as pro teams how about introduce a financial incentive.

Any team that loses by more than 30 points has to pay a fine (payable to the winning team) of £100 per point, so if you lose by 30 points its £3000, 50 points its £5000 etc.

That would motivate the semi pro teams to play harder so as not to lose the money so you would get tense and exciting games.

It might also help the problem of clubs disrespecting the fans by picking understrength teams.

And it would help breed London Broncos out of the game.

All the hard work Richard Lewis did during his time with the RFL is slowly being destroyed by this fat idiot.

The players don't want it, the fans don't want it, but it looks as though it will get steamrollered through.

Either go for top of the league as champions or a top five play-off (which really rewards finishing first). If you ask the fans that what the majority want.

Then have the champions plus the two highest finishers play v the Aussie equivalent.
