Top article that. I have the honour of being an associate of Woodys and he's a top, top bloke. Very shy and very quiet but he's one hell of a bloke and one you would want stood next to you in a crisis. Woddy came to see me at home when I was Ill a few years ago. Still to this day my young daughter still talks about it.
Hopefully this will make some people who are widly known as "Keyboard warriors" to think before they post regarding a players performance etc.

I couldn't agree more. There was a thread on here some time ago where one or two people were brave enough to bare their soul and admit that they had suffered at some time or other. There were, however, a couple of people who said that depression etc did not exist and was merely a sign of weakness. I sincerely hope those people read this article and recognise that depression is an illness, not a weakness.

Echo those sentiments completely. Mental health is in my opinion, one of the last great taboos in our society. We don't talk about it nearly as much as we should, and people still dismiss illnesses such as depression as feeling a bit down or sorry for one's self. The sooner we can change these perceptions the better we will all find ourselves.

Depression is an awful, lonely, debilitating illness and I hope articles like this remove the stigma around it.

We marvel at the honesty and bravery of players on the pitch, but that article is the bravest thing Paul Wood, or any other player has ever done and does a huge service to anyone else suffering in silence.

Complex lives, eh? Perhaps the Daily Mail has turned over a new leaf. Not sure they've ever published as sympathetic an article about anybody. It's not all black and white, is it, Dacre?

I totally agree and the saddest part of it all is the ones that don't understand now will, probably, at some point in their life experience some sort of Mental Illness.

I applaud the RFL for their State of Mind programme, it has helped to highlight further the issue of Mental Illness.
