Is it just me or does almost every dropped/fumbled ball, whether it goes forward, sideways or even backwards now be deemed as a knock on?

I've thought this for a while now.

It's an easy cop out for the ref. Between him & the touch judges they should be able to compose themselves and come to a simple forward or backward decision, instead of backwards. At times during a sky game they will bottle it on other decisions and go to the video referee but during non televised games the majority goes to the defending team. Now, where can I leave this soap box?

If you lose control of the ball you deserve to lose possession. I think the referees should heavily favour the defending team.

If you loose control of the ball backwards and its not a penalty as per the laws of the game why should referees heavily favour the defending team? If its not a penalty, it's not a penalty. (Not after an argument just stating the obvious)
