I don't know if anybody can point me in the right direction but I was just trying to find Stats for penalties in the regular SL rounds compared with the play offs. I have had a look on SL Website, on here and on the Opta site.
On radio Manchester's RL extra they have a referee on each week and 2 or 3 weeks ago one ref admitted that they try to keep the game flowing in big games. My thinking being that the theory that Leeds play better when the weather is poor is not the whole picture. Yes they tend to play better later in the year but they also appear to make fewer mistakes when it matters (I remember at OT when Ablett knocked on after 34 mins thinking that I couldn't remember them making an error before that). Having had chance to watch the game back there did appear to be a small number of penalties and maybe Leeds understand that and play with that in mind.
I am not taking anything away from Leeds. They are a great team but perhaps they know that the odd 2 on 1 ball strip is less likely to be picked up in the bigger games. This would not explain their challenge cup run though?
If anybody knows where penalty stats can be viewed I would appreciate it. Cheers
Anyone else notice that whenever Leeds turned over possession, one of their players tended to become 'injured' thereby delaying the restart. This happens a lot at scrums and drop outs !
