| I'm looking for some advice..
I currently have my phone & broadband with Virgin and my TV with Sky. My Sky package is the full quota but without any extra PTV channels. I will need to cut down my outgoings later this year and would like to hear what other people have in terms of getting a good deal for all three services whether its split between providers or all in one.
My preference would be to retain as much of the existing sports channels as possible so I dont miss too much rugby and my son gets his wrestling fix.
What packages do other users recommend?

| Cancel your Sky straight away. You have to give them a months notice.( They will then offer you a reduced cost with the same package.)
I cancelled years ago & I can see as much sport as I want for nothing.(if you have the correct internet site) .....................H.H.

| I have Virgin M+ which gets me all the channels I need plus free HD box + sky sports package as well as 30 mbps broadband and a phone line with free weekend calls cost around £54,Where before when I was with BT phone,Sky tv and Virgin broadband I was paying £77 ,reckon it's worth you giving a call to Virgin to compare what you want.

| Usually if you combine all your eggs in one basket ie broadband phone and TV you get the best deal. Virgin are offering 1/2 on Tivo so worth a look.
I am with Virgin and left to go chips in with Sky , after 2 months of terrible broadband speeds went back to Virgin who to be honest are the only mob who can give you fast broadband (-latency problems) .
Also with the Virgin sport package you get ESPN thrown in.
Play one off the other to get what you want

| Quick question - do you get all four (five with News) sky sports channels with the sports package?

| Personally, I can't get rid of my Sky package, purely because they have exclusive access to Sky Atlantic (the best channel around today)..... If Virgin wangled their way onto getting that in their package, I'd happily give them a trial.

The above is correct.
Who in their right mind pays for satellite tv when it's all free on the web? any sport, just google, all latest film releases can easily be found, and you don't have to wait 6 months before they come on sky. How many of those crappy radio and Asian channels do you watch, and as for finding filth, just remember why you got the internet in the 1st place
Get yourself a hdmi cable and connect to the tv. watched the Sheffield/ Batley game last night. Excellent game and excellent picture.
ps/ you don't need a landline either, just text on your mobile. hth.

Whilst I admire your rebellious spirit, its worth remembering that if we all took this approach, Rugby League, in its present guise, would be dead within a year.
I very much doubt that Sky would pump their millions into our sport if we were all sticking two fingers up at their product, and choosing to steal it instead.

In what way would RL in it's present guise be dead within a year?
You mean we would have to go back to sunday games? A league where finishing champions actually meant something? Promotion and relegation? How awful does that sound?

We'd also have an inferior product as any half decent players would be leaving to head to NRL, or rugby union because most RL clubs would be bancrupt.

Exactly. Rugby League will never be dead, but I wish Sky Sports was. The only "product" they've improved in twenty years is darts in my opinion.

Correct......Clubs would be shutting down, the Halliwell Jones Stadium (and other modern stadia) would be closed up within 3 years as clubs wouldn't be able to afford to run them.
You'd be watching the sport back on Bennetts Rec.....Rugby League as a serious sport would be dead - Rugby Union would be the only Rugby code on TV.

So you think it would only be Rugby league fans that would watch sports on the internet, sky would suss this and remove it from their schedule but keep union on as their fans wouldn't do such a thing?
