Born and brought up in Runcorn, Jack Fish signed for the club in 1898 and proceeded to play 321 games. After finishing his playing career, which included him once scoring five tries in a Challenge Cup second round tie against Goole in 1900, he went on to coach the team that reached the 1928 Challenge Cup Final and lived in the town until his death in 1940. Gary Slater has now written a fascinating biography of one of Rugby League's first superstars and it is now on sale in the club shop selling at £11-95.
