Schofield should get behind the team instead whining like a little kid. The guy is a complete numpty and isn't half as important as he likes to think he is.

It might sound like he's being a bit anal but stuff like this means a lot to Schofield. It's like when they retrospectively gave him the Golden Boot that he had won in 1990 but never been presented till recently, a lot of players would have just turned up and gone through the motions but Schofield was quite emotional about getting it.

I know people don't like him because he has a lot of opinions on the game but he strikes me as a bloke that is absolutely mad about rugby league, lived the dream by being good enough to play the game and be one of the greats of his generation, and is proud of what he achieved and his status and standing in the game is a big deal to him, he doesn't mean any harm, it's fair enough.

Bumped into him on the train going to Wembley 2010 & he was a gent - had a good chat, bit of banter about the match ahead & was obviously very passionate about the game!!

Yep people think Schofield's a big head but he will chat about rugby to any fan, he doesn't have the big "I'm too important to be bothered by the likes of you" about him. Also he's well up on his rugby league history and knows all the stats.

He still comes across a bitter old fart with this little outburst. It's not like we ever hear Gary Lineker going on about how he could have equalled Bobby Charlton's goalscoring record for England, is it....? .....................Oh

When i first started watching R.L. Schofield was my favourite none Wire player by miles...The bloke lives and breathes the game and has opinions on it like we all do...
Don't know why people get so wound up ? The Wiganers think its because he never played for them...? That must be it surely?
