| Not the most polished performance, but still plenty of positives, the first being Brett Hodgson. I questioned the decision to sign him and let Mathers go. Once again both Hodgson and Mathers proved me wrong last night. Richie lost the ball in a straightforward tackle early on last night that gave us the early field position for the first try to Hodgson. Richie looked lost and unhappy last night, whilst Brett was heavily involved in most things we did.
The Atkins/King combination was devastating down the Cas right hand side last night. they both caused big problems to the Cas defence every time they got the ball, show either of them the smallest gap and you're in trouble.
Jon Clarke was very lively when he came on and was involved in everything, he looked very sharp and was obviously trying to prove a point whilst I was also pleased that Mike Cooper showed some real go-forward and Matty Blythe did not look at all out of place and took his try very well.
On the more negative side we bombed two certain tries in the first half. The first was the King break from a short kick off (never do a short KO to Matt King). He went 40 yards and then there was a series of passes 15 yards from the line with no-one showing the commitment to drive forward that last few yards. we over complicated things. The second was a superb Solomona break where he bounced off several tacklers, did all the hard work, then spoilt it with an outrageous inside flick that went straight up in the air. A steady pass to his left would have found the Atkins/King combo and the score was on. We also tried to push the pass a bit much in the first half and gave Cas good field position in the process, the best example being the virtually impossible pass to Joel from Chris Bridge.
So to sum up, reasonable, but a few things that need to be tightened up, not bad to win by 30 points away though when you're not at your best and missing your skipper and number 1 playmaker.

| Brilliant first half, defended lots of repeat sets after taking an early lead. It might have been perfection it J Monaghan had taken a pass from Bridge, Solomona had kept hold of the ball and King and Hodgeson had dived for the line instead of looking for a pass.
Second half was a bit of a frustration at times but it must have been hard to take it seriously when the game was over after 50 minutes. Great win but my slight concern would be against a better team when M Monaghan goes off Clarke and Higham are poor, Clarke in defence (last night) and Higham with penalties or errors. The good thing about having Higham in the team as occasionally it looks like we have 2 Ben Westwood's.
On a side note Matt King looks better each week.

No he didn't. Largely anonymous to be honest & his kicking game was poor.

| Did we pick up any injuries last night?
It looks like Anderson and Morley will return next week so we should be full strength in the forwards.
Hopefully Briers' calf pull isn't too serious.

Ben Harrison was limping at one point in the second half, but seconds later he was making a break, so seemed to be OK. Didn't seem to be any other problems.
