Since the idea of two referees was brought into being in Aus I've been a fan of it. Today's game in Sydney has changed my mind though. There was a lot of interfering at the PTB, especially in the first half, and in the second half there were any number of high shots from the Quennsland second and third man in the tackle. Comments anyone?
Obviously there is the consistent argument that the linesmen should get more involved - one that needs addressing in my opinion!
What I would like to see is these in-goal judges getting involved with general play. They bob along the line watching the play and probably have quite a good view on certain aspects of play but in fact are only called into support the referee on try or no try decisions. (non-Sky Games). Could we not get them connected up to the referee or match commissioner to feed information. Otherwise they are a little bit redundant for 90% of the game.
