An Egyptian millionaire has invested £1m into Hull KR to support the community of Hull.

He is also the owner of Hull City football club.

I have had a trawl through both Hull boards today and seems that the FC lot seem to be worried about what may be ahead especially if this man buys the KC as they seem to think.

Also it sounds like the investor would prefer the two to merge so that Hull has one rugby and one football team.

Thoughts?

KR will be a top team if this works out for them!

According to the Hull KR board it appears that the investment is for player improvement and facility improvement. Not to service, what some on that board have been saying, a considerable debt that the club has.

KR will move into the KC, and Hull FC will have to find new accomodation.

How much was the debt that was reported i forget.

I think it's great for KR and good publicity for our game.

I just hope there really is no hidden agenda like a merger i can't see that going well,

Hull is a great RL stronghold and it should remain that was IMO with two superleague teams

One of the mods on the Hull KR board has said people shouldn't state the debt as nobody is sure. However i imagine i can state what they have said without getting in trouble. People on that board seem to think it is in the region of £4.5m however I dont have a clue.

Any outside investment has got to be for the good of RL, but as Zombie says, hope there is no hidden agena. Alot of FC fans seem to think this could be a sweetner to persuade councilors on the east side of Hull to vote for the sale of the KC.

They should have one team. The KC would be full every week. They'd be fooocked for away games. No SL ground would be able to house Hull FC fans and the millions and millions of the KR fans.

A merge wont work.

The worrying thing for FC, is that if things go pearshaped at the KC they gave up the asset of the Boulevard as a condition of moving to the KC. Would FC be able to finance and support its own stadium, we know how hard this has been for other SL clubs

It's easy for fans of teams not involved in the merger to suggest it's a good idea and it will centralise a fan base, create one big successful team etc etc

Now if it was Wire and Widnes ??

I think a merge could work, but only for failing clubs/clubs struggling to progress. For example a cumbrian merge, it would need time but could happen.

However both Hull Clubs aren't in bad shape so wouldnt work.

It doesn't matter what shape the two Hull clubs are in, a merger there would never be on the cards. To get a flavour of what things are like between the fans in East and West Hull just have a read of their respective RLFANS Boards.

No chance of a merger folks just seems like a nice man who wants to give a small bit of money back to the east hull community.

Anyone who puts large amounts of money into RL has to be welcomed with open arms.

Oh and its not nailed on as a million pounds,only figure mentioned is that its a 7 digit amount so could be as much as 9 million !!

Well if it's more than the million that's all the better for KR, fair play to them.

I do hope that the investor has just done it as a gesture of goodwill rather than a sweetner for bigger plans though.

He has been after the KC for a while now, read in the Hull Daily Mail a few months back when the idea was first floated that he wanted FC to remain in the KC, if the Council won't sell it he is threatening to build a new ground for City in Malton where ever the hell that is and inviting FC to play there too. He claimed he wants the KC to that he can make it more of a community facility a bit like the LSV, and again when I saw the paper on Tuesday he was claiming that he simply wants sports in 'ull to prosper. No doubt there is a lot more to it than that though...

As someone who lives in West Hull there is no chance of such a merger, the West v East hatred is in the blood! Watching the derby in a pub here sure is an experience!
