| I used to work in the Mull years ago. The longford lover was always great entertainment with some great stories, half of which I thought couldn't be true, but probably were.
Was Pete Rigby the one who did the Tuesday nights at the Mull? I'm sure my mum had him for her surprise 50th birthday. He shouted out the wrong name leaving my mum thinking the party was for someone else. It took her a while to realise it was for her. He played some good tunes though.

They were all true and generally involved doing anything for a pint of mild.

| He lived 5 doors from me in appleton. Was a regular at our house for sunday dinner. Bought me a John lennon album when he got shot. Always had a picture of him meeting the queen on the front of his decks.

| The Longford Lover is a genius nickname, for the way it conjures an image of a suave, debonnair lothario trying to lure the shy and pretty high society darlings into his affections for a spot of ooh la la. Not wishing to deflate his ego in any way at all, but in this regard, Longford's not what I'd call a tough market to crack.

| Ah I remember him well, great bloke and played some great tunes, he was a regular in the Brit and me and our maud had him do his stuff at our wedding reception, what a cracking do that was!
Remember he had this song he used to sing after a few pints of mild, about having his wicked way with a bird at the back of Tom Bows shop.

Yeah me too.
"2 pints of Mild for the Longford" after every half a dozen songs.
Made up a few of his own songs about his life in Warrington.
'I'm a Warrington man' .....
and
'The Longford Lover don't give a damn'
Always told us his son Ben was concieved on the stage at The Carlton Club.
What a top bloke ..... a true Warrington Legend

Do I know you? I played at Bridge Lane in the Colts from about 1973 onwards with Steve Hennessey and several others. I lost count of the number of times I was sick on the back pitch going home on a Friday night.
