Such terrible news. Moore was a legend (a word too freely used these days).
I won a CD of his (After Hours) in a music comp on local radio years ago, and was most impressed.
Out in the Fields, great record, too
As Rogues mentions above, Parisienne Walkways is a MASTERPIECE.
For all you indie kids, who think Kasabian/Oasis et al are guitar heroes, you should check this fella.....fantastic. Gallagher isn't fit to pass him a plectrum.
As usual, when someone of his stature passes away, it will be largely ignored. I remember when Cozy Powell died in the late nineties, it barely broke page thirty in the bottom corner of the tabloids, yet these days, Cheryl flippin Cole breaks a finger nail, and it's frontpage headlines.

to be fair to Moore. He isn't fit pass jedward a plectrum. I at the likes of kasabian and oasis and the courteeners!
TBH though. Moore never was on my radar but there is no doubting the quality he had. RIP

| A great blues guitarist no doubt about it. I know a couple of blokes who played alongside him and his personal rep is in the toilet - apparently he was a right bar steward in the flesh. I try to ignore that when listening to his ace playing.

| Half-page report on p9 of today's Times, and virtually full page obituary on p47, just to counter the assertion a few posts ago that his passing would be ignored by the press.

The full page obit, in the broadsheets, was always going to happen. You don't get too many famous people/people of achievement dying daily, so they need to fill copy. My comment was mainly aimed at the lower end of the tabloid press, with their seedy innuendo, who's only interest in this sad story, would have been "eye, eye. Bloke nearly in his 60's, dying in a hotel room with a girl half his age. we all now whats been going on there"
The same thing happened nearly a decade ago, when the BRILLIANT John Entwhistle died (admittedly in the company of a lady of the night), and all the media reported was that he was with a "working girl", not that the world has lost probably the best bass player that's ever lived. Typical of the British media, always looking for the bad in everything
