| As fans were only guessing what the situation is with Richie Myler, only Tony Smith and Richie Myler will know what the true situation is.
It must have been a hard thing for Myler to take when he was left out of the 17 for wembley, anyway he seemed to take that on the chin and Tony Smith obviously had a game plan which worked which is fair enough and it was the right call. The part i don't understand is why is he being totally frozen out of the big games since, at some point Tony Smith needs to have a look at Richie Myler in a big game to see where he's at.
Now the perfect game for this would have been St Helens away, that was a game where even if we had lost it wouldn't have been the bee all and end all and it would have given TS a very good chance to assess Myler in a big game enviroment.
He wasn't included in the starting 13 again that night, he only made the 17 due to a late injury to Micky Higham otherwise he would have been frozen out again.
Now onto Huddersfield, again Myler was totally frozen out of another big game.
Its not like Myler is a total rookie, he's played for England and he's had good games in the past against Leeds and St Helens whilst at Salford.
Is it a clash of personalities between Myler and TS, has something been said by Myler where Tony Smith felt the need to be discipline him, did Myler hide Tony Smith's pants whilst he was getting showered after a training session or nick his kit kat when he wasn't looking ? .... As i said, were only guessing.
After the dissapointment of wembley i would have expected Myler to at least of featured in one of the knock out games as a confidence reassurer to let him know that he has a big part to play in this Warrington team, like i said above its not as though he's a total rookie.
Strange one....

| Richie Myler was never ready to take the step up and decided that the money was too good to turn down. Even at Salford we could see that he was far from the finished article. Personally... I felt his weaknesses were going to get found out when he moved, and I think that has been the case. We honestly couldn't believe our luck when Warrington came in with the offer they did. It allowed us to move forward. We signed Daniel Holdsworth who has been amazing and looks the complete player.... this enabled us to sign players like Luke Patten... and a number of others have followed.
Back to Myler... He's a support player primarily. He hasn't got the game at the moment to be creative as a scrum half. Compare him to Sam Tomkins at Wigan... They are a million miles apart. Tomkins creates and supports... Myler doesn't create too much. At Salford he stood out due to the players around him... He played for England when he was the star of the show at The Willows... so played mostly on confidence. At Warrington... the fact that he's not getting it all his own way is knocking him and his form has suffered.
As it stands... you took a huge gamble paying what you did for him... and I still feel he's going to be a bit of a flop right now. His best move for him would have been to stay put for another 2-3 years... gain the experience... and then move. As it stands... he's moved too soon and unless he takes the advice being given to him and deals with the disappointments... then he's not going to move forward. I understand that he has been complaining that he isn't happy at Warrington... This says it all for me. He made his bed so perhaps should lie in it... He will come out of this a stronger character and perhaps a better player if he does.

You make it sound like he's had a bad first season when he hasn't.

| Small fish in a big pond. He was a star player at Salford and stood out, now he is just an average player in a star studded team.

| decent piece Loyal Fan helped along with some hind sight but pretty much the same views as mine. i'm very dissapointed in Myler and think maybe he isnt the answer.
cant compare him to Tomkins though compare him to Thomas Leului or Rob Burrow or Luke Robinson and Kyle Eastmond...and other number 7's
He isnt bad and really the only one he's some distance behind is probably Kyle Eastmond. but I would swap Myler for Rob Burrow tommorrow

| Lets just remember for a second that Myler joined us at 19 with a massive price tag and pressure, he's managed to bag 15 tries and 12 assists in 20 SL games isn't bad going for a lad who missed 2 months of the season with an injury.
And before anyone says its just because he's playing in a better team etc Briers got 17 assists in SL this season.

| I wasn't going to comment on him as a player but seeing as people are posting opinions that way, i made very similar points to Loyal Salford fan before we signed Myler based on what i'd seen of him in the championship and in SL.
His game revolves around support play, he very rarely looks to take on the line.
He also needs to boss a game more, he needs to learn how to tell senior players where he wants them and to be far more vocal with his instructions. Long term i'm also not sure he's the answer, its not like he's a rookie so i would have expected to see some sort of development outside of his support play but we havn't seen much evidence of that so far.

| Totally agree, Rob. He doesn't stand up or take on the line like Tomkins or Eastmond. However, lets not forget that he's only twenty years old. I think next year will be the time when he really kicks on and shows his true potential.
Rob, do you think he should of featured last night and had he, it would of been a different game?

| I can't help but think something has gone on off the pitch. Has his form been that bad? Lets be honest he has had a very good first season. We were all warned about his supposed defensive frailities but I haven't really seen them. He was targeted at Catalans but apart from that I honestly can't remember him being a liability in other matches, at least certainly not to the extent that he has been frozen out like this.
LoyalFan you have no reason to crow he has improved since coming to Warrington and is a young lad who will still get better.

I don't think he would have made any difference, for the last 2 weeks we have played like a team thats looked like its running on empty. One player wouldn't have made a difference.
If he should have featured in any game it should have been at saints away, TS would have had a good chance to look at him in a big game enviroment knowing that even if we lost it wouldn't have meant the end of the road in the play offs.

| He is an investment. Full stop.
TS is nurturing him - making him see his weaknesses and working on that.
I can see many people on here complaining he will burn out if he was played too much.
The lad just needs time, which TS is very sensibly giving him.
