surely an indication that the money the club has spent on player nutrition and fitness has worked !
On another board someone said 'warrington have been lucky with injuries' ... i don't think its down to luck.

| I hope its money the club has spent on player nutrition and fitness, that is working but it may also be due the coach being no fool and if you don't want to play for the club and don't keep trying to play week in week out you would find your self forgoten or moved on. But on the same theme he is very much on giving players time to recover fully from injury all in all a class coach we have needed for years and years.

We can only hope so but the fact that our peers have used so many, and yet are well in contention, does give me cause for concern if they ever get their first choice 17 on the field.

| I very much doubt its down to the extra money spent on money and nutrition it well have made in an impact but a very little one.
The number of players a team uses in a season depends on their injuries, and the number of injuries you get is sheer luck. Just because your fit doesnt mean your not going to pull a muscle in training. Or not break a bone. Its all about how fortunate or unfortunate you are. It only takes you too land awkwardly, or in some cases even just land.
So to be honest, this thread is very much a non-starter, just because you've only used 24 players, doesnt mean your players are stronger or fitter than the next team. It just means you havent got as many injuries, havent had as many throughout the season, havent had many bans, or had to give compassionate leave etc.... Whichever way you look at it its not superior fitness, that is the reason you've only had to use 24 players. Just sheer luck.

Not true. Luck is obviously a factor but things such as muscle mass/tone and core stability are much bigger contributors to the injury list. Sports psychology plays a MASSIVE part, especially in recurrent injuries. There may well also be players who make it onto the pitch and play, who may have had a few weeks off last year. Possibly due to one of our two new physios, who is the highest paid physio in Super League and uses some pretty high-tech stuff to patch players up.

Wigans has been the quality of youngsters as well though, we have been able to give established players longer rest periods with the luxury of youngsters such as Farrell, Mossop, Davies, Marsh etc being able to step in, this has then resulted in a much larger squad which has meant players like Feka, Bailey + Phelps being unable to get back in.

| What about form?
Most of our players have played upto or above expectation, so they don't need to be dropped.
