| ThisWarrington were understood to be interested in Quinn as a replacement for Chris Hicks but the former Penrith and Manly winger has shelved plans to return home and re-signed with the Wolves for next season, leaving Wigan as a more likely option for Quinn. [/i

That's it Dave. Brilliant news in my view.

| Apologies if you did. I don't come on here very often, as I admittedly don't know enough about rugby to hold my own in a discussion with you good folk.

| From what I recall of the previous Hicks thread, no one could find any links or proof that he was staying and people were mainly arguing over sources and how we'd get the quota down if he was staying. Johnny's link at least provides something more concrete.
It will all be confirmed by Warrington soon, as he's definitely staying and that is very good news.

Indeed Monsieur I. This is the best news that I've heard since they reintroduced Monster Munch.

Dont let that stop you we talk about everything on here and everyone is welcome,But yes the topic is mainly rugby league and then the wigan fans come on so we have to disscuss something else...

| How are wigan going to get another four players under the quota for next season on top of the players they already have? Surely its not a good move for the club who currently, but not for long , stand at the top of the table to have so many foreign players. Yet we wonder why England stuggle.
Fantastic news on Hicks though, best finisher in the league I would say, lacks the pace he might used to have but more than makes up for it in his reading of the game, consistency and finishing.

| Well the quota rules for 2011 are;
[*]At least 8 home grown players.
[*]No more than 5 quota players.
[*]No more than 5 overseas trained players inc quota players.
[*]Rest of squad to be from players trained within same federation.
[*]Home grown players - any player still under 21 and/or has completed 3 years service with the same clubs academy set up.
[*]Same federation - any player still under 21 and/or has completed 3 years service with other clubs academy set ups within UK (for UK SL clubs) or France (for Catalans etc)
[*]Overseas quota players - as per current rules i.e. Anyone unable to prove origins within EU or Kolpak countries.
[*]Overseas trained - any other overseas player (EU passport or Kolpak etc.)
Wigan have as quota - Phelps, Roberts, Bailey, Riddell, Leuluai
Overseas players not on quota are - Carmont, Richards, Hansen, Paleaaesina
Leuluai has been here for 6 years so could actually be off quota, Riddell is going home at the end of the season. So that's 2 quota spots Wigan will have.

Leuluai has never been quota as he was in the UK for 3 years prior to his 21st birthday and is classed as federation trained.
Hansen is Wigan trained as he came through the academy from being fourteen years of age and has represented England at academy level.
Riddell, Feka, Phelps (definitely going) and probably Bailey will all leave at the end of the season.
That will free up overseas places and salary.
