| Good. That frees up the private sector to meet any demand (if there is any) for Sunday evening bus services.

| Private sector won't run buses for 10 or 15 people but how do those 10 or 15 people get about if they don't/can't drive?

Of course they won't. And neither should the council. They can get on their bike or get a taxi, walk, get a lift or don't go. Why should taxpayers subsidise their transportation whims in every way?
Your argument would supposedly suggest that the tax payer should put on a bus for one poor soul who cannot/will not drive wanting to get from Westy to the bus station at midnight on Sunday every one month in two :-S

| Public service, public service. Is this a sign of things to come at national level with Con-Dems cutting front line services?

| Dreadfull news. How do old ladies go on, getting home from Church or going to and from Bingo etc (yes they still do it). What about the infirm? Young families without a car etc. Not all can afford a taxi.
I sometimes use the bus service of a Sunday evening. Not very happy about this.
I know the council have to make cutbacks. Lets get rid of councillors "jollies". They do exist, many of them are pointless and cost a tremendous amount of money.
This, unfortunately, is the start of a slippery slope.

| Panic not, if only there was a smaller private version of a bus available, say maybe, a taxi?

Sorry Wires71, that's a poor arguement. It's called life. Why should people who never use buses (some car drivers) subsidise bus passengers, by way of council tax.

| To think, this town wanted City status only a few years ago.
Can you imagine an out of towner coming here (if we were a city) and finding out there is no public transport after Sunday teatime. They'd fall about laughing.

If we were a city they'd also laugh that we have no alternative public transport like a tram system.
I usually walk home from matches on a Sunday anyway as waiting for a Sankey bus after a match takes ages.

Same here. It's only a 2 mile walk back, no biggie.
