Don't worry this will get resurrected as a serious topic before long.
A lot of the Tony Smith worshippers will become self-appointed rugby league coaching gurus analysing "where Smith went wrong", probably they will choose some game where we lost and say "Smith got the team wrong".
Don't forget the World Cup, England went out there ready to smash the Aussies and Kiwis but it was down to Tony Smith not making the Leeds players and Saints players sit together in the canteen that the Aussies were able to beat us.

Spot on here. Look at how he failed to control the 'unruly' Gleeson and we had to ship him out to Wigan. He was one of our most potent attacking threats. A truly class coach would have been able to put him in his place, instill some discipline in him and get the best out of him on the pitch.
I thought his team selection this weekend was woeful. Bridge on the bench and Grix at stand off? Bridge should have started at 6 and Grix used as an interchange loose forward. Totally inept. |
