Alfie is a fantastic player.

If he does join us, he will do very well.

Would be a huge challenge for someone who has achieved alot in Union to switch codes at the age of the 35.

Its good to hear Harris mention the cost involved & the desire to play our game as I'm guessing a few Union players down in the valley's might be looking to cash in.

Where do you see him playing? Wing or Centre?

Could be a gamble on a guy who is 35 and is going to have to adapt to playing Rugby League

I would prefer to see him in the centres as I don't think he is fast enough for the wing.

He is a pretty tidy full back too though!

Yes he is old, but he is a fantastic RUGBY player. He will bring far more positives to the Crusaders than negatives if he does join us.

When will he make his debut?

Think the article says the move could be completed as early Friday.

I doubt, if the move happens, that he would make his debut for a week or two as he's going to need to adjust to league.

So I doubt we will be seeing him this weekend.

If he was 25 he'd struggle adapting but 35 ? I can't see him being more than just publicity. Hope he proves me wrong but can't see it

It's just a signing to get bigger crowds in and generate some publicity.

How can anyone expect a 35 year old union player to adapt to RL.

Agreed, just look at Rauhihi for example, 36 when he retired and still hadn't got the hang of it.

I`m sure he`ll have his own ideas of where he`d like to play.

In some ways it's a bit like our signing of Brian Carney.

i.e. great if you can get some game time from him, but even more is the the benefit that he will provide behind the scenes in off field development from both a rugby and promotional/corporate opportunities.

A good move around in my opinion.

Let's just hope that it's not ruined by a small faction of troublemakers/homophobes that seem to now be permeating the fan base of some RL clubs (albeit not by any means unique to our sport).
