A nothing story and an empty threat. After a season of record attendances and viewing figures neither the ARL, News Ltd or the 16 clubs themselves can afford to break apart. I don't see how they can do it in the first place.

In short, the ARL and News Ltd are giving up their 50% share in the NRL and the 16 clubs are going to elect members into a new independent commission.

Except there are a few complications...
