Doesn't this event just descend into a big mickey up round town with many fights and brawls breaking out earlier than normal on a friday night?

Aye, not the mention all the thugs, thieves and drunkern 13 yr olds who go to Vicky Park for the fair.

Seems to be fizzling out now I think. In 1991, I walked, got some money & a Million Dollar Man figure, I thought the premise of it was great. Lots of 50p's in my two part, screw on/off, round the neck, money collector thing and a figure that did the million dollarr bear hug.

Today, I walked, no 50p, no quids, nothing. But I did get a Million Dollar Moran figure. It's ace, it stands up straight, next to my other figures, just amongst them like you wouldn't know it was there. It comes with a cheque book & pen.

I was born on Warrington Walking Day 1983, I got my photo in The Warrington Guardian when I walked in 1988 when I was 5.

Walked until I was 15 and then stopped going church so stopped doing it. It used to be great with lots of people walking, so many bands and the streets lined with people watching.

The walking used to go on till after 12 but my sister said it was over for 10:30 last year.

Sad to see it's not as strong as it used to be, I remember when everybody was off on walking day, don't think it could be done now, maybe if they moved it to Saturday and made more of a carnival atmosphere it could put new life into it, we stumbled across something similer whilst on holiday in France a few years ago, the whole town stood still, there were stalls selling food and general stuff, street entertainment, really good seems as if everybody in the town got behind it.

They don't stock Warrington Town ties at Matalan yet!
