| Alot of rumours flying around regarding these two, what are people's thoughts on them as a partnership? I know people like GDMM, Rob Wire and others watch alot of NRL so will be interesting to hear their views.

| Orford is ok but wouldn't say he was in the same league as joey johns or alfie langer.
Myler is obviously young and talented but looks a bit light weight, hopefully he can beef up a bit when he comes to the wire.
I hope monaghan sticks around too.

The best 7 of the 90s and the best 7 of the 00s, nobody is in the same league as those two so that is hardly a criticism of Orford.
Orford is in the top few players in the NRL and has been for many years. He hasn't quite got the x-factor of a Thurston or a Prince, but has an excellent kicking game, good organisation and is nicknamed "the Ox" because of his strength and ability to punch above his weight in defence.

As long as he's in the league above Monaghan, that's all that matters to me!

That is highly debatable at this point in time!

Then the deal is off! I also forgot to mention that he needs to know how to smile, just every once in a while. At least give the impression that he wants to be here.

| Would there really be a point to signing two number 7's at the same time?

I'd defintiely see Myler as the runner and sub-district as the organiser, in that respect I could imagine it working.

Think Myler would be better in more of a stand off role, like Maguire as he links up well.....He needs to improve his defence though.....

Wigan made that mistake with Gregory and Edwards

| I wouldn`t want Matt Orford especially after what happened last time round when he basically used us to get a better deal for himself in the NRL, he`s 31 now and would be 32 next season so thats hardly building for the future, a few years ago maybe but not now. You would hardly be signing someone at the top of their game either if we signed him.
Richie Myler is a very good prospect but he still has quite a bit to learn, his defence is a bit suspect from what ive seen and i don`t see him as a natural ball distributor, his strengths are his short kicking game which is excellent and his support play is also very good ala Shaun Edwards style.
I think we need a scrum half thats somewhere inbetween the above 2, one thats not at the end of his career and one thats not starting out his SL career where he is still a raw talent with things to learn, Richie Myler will need time to develop further so do we have that time available to develop him given our situation where we need a steadying influence ?
Its the distribution side of his game would concern me, John Wilshire would agree with that after recieving 2 hospital passes in the recent Hull game that was on Sky, one of the passes resulted in John Wilshire giving him a long stare as if to say "what the feck was that".
Scott Prince would have been ideal scrum half, its a pitty he signed a new 4 year deal with the Gold Coast. Peter Wallace is also another that would have been ideal for us, he`s a scrum half thats in great form and has a superb short kicking game, again though he is tied up to the Broncos until 2012. Their are not many high class scrum halves available these days.
Lets just say i wouldn`t be dissapointed if Tony Smith could pursuade Rob Burrow to take up a new challenge as thats about the best experienced option over thats english who is at the right sort of age, a transfer fee would be involved but it would also be involved with Richie Myler.

| I agree re Myler, his defence is not good and his distribution does need work, see him more as a stand off long term.....I would like to see an more seasoned and experienced scrum half come in for now and then bring someone through under thier guidance.

| As scrum halves go Matt Orford would do us for 2 years at least. But we have more chance of turning Paul from Orford into a world class scum half than tempting Matt Orford from the NRL champions.
