| but reads DVD's and CD's fine, help much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I know there are a few computer boffs on here that may be able to help, for the record Sony weren't very helpful.

| is it 60gb 80gb are 120gb
i have one of the 1st ones bought it week they came out and last week the lazer went phoned sony and got told to send it in to them and it would be replaced for free

They said mine isn't in warranty or something, not bothered as I've got insurance on it, doesn't help when you have all your data saved on it though.

| My son had trouble with his. Wouldn't read any discs. Phoned SONY up they replaced it with a new one. Same thing happened they replaced again. Same thing happened. We got him an XBOX.
There is a big fault in the 80 gb ones

| i have a 160gb, bought it from john lewis last christmas. It has been great no problems at all. My friend had a similar problem and he ended up buying a new console! sorry

You can take the hard drive out of your broken PS3 and put it in your new one.
If that's too much trouble or you have to send your PS3 off you can just transfer all your save data from your old PS3 onto a USB pendrive as shown in rlthisrl video and then transfer it over to your new one as shown rlhererl. It will only take a few mins.

NP. As The Wood said, it sounds like your Blu-Ray player has gone so it would need to be sent off to sony for repairs or you would have replace the console, if you still want one.
