Let's not tar Dave Woods with the same brush, eh.

He's a pretty good play-by-play guy and he has a good color man in John Kear.

Compared to Ray French and Jonathan Davies, Woods/Kear are like Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler.

And French favours St Helens, not Widnes.

Ray French is the biggest stains fan there is . He frequents the stains website for 50 flicks more than the average bloke on youporn!!!

Actually, I was pretty impressed with the BBC today. The fact that they are prepared to go to the South of France is a bonus, and the presentation was pretty good, with Balding, Morgan and Sculthorpe presenting the show well, and Kear doing a good job in the commentary box.

French and Davies are crap, but I think we all knew that before today.

Must admit Ray French is pretty woeful, though, let's be honest, he always has been.

Dave Woods however, is pretty decent....he shows the right amount of enthusiasm, without going over the top, and unlike the pillock on Sky, doesn't spend half his time oooohing and aaahing about the most trivial things that go on.

Claire Balding too, continues to impress, with her obvious enjoyment of an obvious alien sport to her.....her pointed reference to Harlequins RL's defeat betrayed her undoubted Union upbringing...

Technically, the BBC never went to Perpignan. The feed was taken from French television.

It was only French and Davies that were there doing commentary.

The bizzare thing with French, is that he is a cracking after dinner speaker.

So the solution is to get him bladdered??....Then again, I presumed he already was...

Claire Balding is a top presenter who does her research; as mentioned earlier the Studio presentation was very good but the French/Davies combo is pathetic.

No, you are wrong on this one. The big screen was there, and the branding all over the place was BBC. There were far more angles than the French coverage.

Plus the fact, the highlights were seeming under control of bbc, whereby the action was paused, and lines drawn yadda yadda.

I distinctly heard French say during a replay that they are in the hands of the French producers with regards to the replays and the pictures.

They may have been paying for French staff rather than flying loads of English operators, but it was clearly a BBC production.

The interviews etc. showed this.

When the French cover these games, they do not have the big screen, and the screen graphics showed BBC.
