I think it's great that the fans are this positive and seeing this as a step forward. I just hope that he's given a fair chance and we as the fans are not on his back within a few weeks if things dont change straight away. Sunday we need to be realistic, he will have spent a few hours with the team and a lot of things will still be done the way Jimmy had things going. Even if we go out on sunday and put out another dire performance lets not write them off, big changes are needed and this is the start of them but lets not run before we can walk.

While I agree he wasn't the man for the job it's a bit hypocritical for people to allow smith time when for my money Lowes was given 3 weeks.

Lowes was given a lot longer than that and nothing changed, in fact, it almost certainly got worse.

It is pretty much a coach's track record that buys them time. Cullen saved us from relegation so was given a lot of time. If noble hadn't achieved what he had at bradford, wigan would've shown him the door by now. That is the simple reason why smith will be given time.
