| Quote ="Saddened!"I really don't see why. Monaghan had a decent game, but so did Roby. On another day, with more experienced halves, his 40:20 would have been a game changer. He no doubt made a ton of metres.
It's a classic case of two equally good, but very different, players. Monaghan wouldn't improve Saints as we'd lose a 5th of our metres made. Roby has been truly inspirational for us this season. I wouldn't take Monaghan for him, and I suspect you'd say the same.'"
I think it's almost a case of both clubs realising that the hookers they have are that good, it's worth building the team, no, more the style of the teams play around their hookers. So, you couldn't just go and get another and them slot in and everything be okay and you couldn't just swap these two in question around.
It's why we notice that Higham is plop when he comes on, and why Moore shouldn't pass go and go straight to Jail.
We're geared up to play to Monas strengths, likewise you utilitise Roby in a way that gets the best out of him.

| I thought Roby was superb on Friday but then, he is most times I see him. Same for Michael Monaghan who is probably already the best no 9 who has ever played for us. I wouldn't swap Monaghan for any other player in the league. That is not to say that there aren't any number of superb players who would improve our squad (albeit, not that many). Saying I prefer Monaghan to Roby says absolutely nothing about Roby - he's great.

| As a neutral fan,Monaghan is a good player, but if I had the choice, it would be Roby,by some distance.

Not at all, I mean every word! If James Roby's dad was on the forum I would say the same thing. I'd also ask him what he fed 'Robes' had a bad experience at the hairdressers when he was a nipper because his hair looks like it's been cut for a bet.

We need to kidnap his parents, bring them to England, clone them and turn the clones in to the English rugby player factories.

| roby has been even more of a stand out player for saints this eyar because lyon pryce is out plus different injuries he roby has been player most games if not every game, monaghan has briers myler and hodgson and sometimes bridge to play along side so he wont stand out as much unless he puts in a performance like he did the other night mainly because he isnt rely'd on as much.

You can say Monaghan has had quite an easy time this season compared to Roby.
If you compare the super league stats between the two players, Roby destroys Monaghan in all the stats compartments, Roby,s offence and defence can never be replicated by Monaghan, mainly because he doesn't,t need to.

| They are both class acts with two different types of play.
Each has their own strength but obviously as a Saints fan I would pick Roby everytime, the kid is immense.
