Like Sally - I've been doing some research on Austin and I'm not filled with hope. This is in a similar vein to the 2018 reviews he posted:

He basically is a good runner but a one trick pony when you read the sidestep. Doesn't have a creative passing or kicking game and is a poor defensive reader, who is best used as an impact player against tiring defence.
I watched the Canberra - Warriors game (final one of the season) and he was anonymous apart from kicking out on the full and missing touch with a penalty so he should fit in well with us. The stand out player in that game was a certain Mr. Hiku. He is absolute class and I'd break the bank for him.
I'll not be getting my hopes up too high just yet on Blake though. I've been disappointed too many times now.
But I hope to be proven wrong. |

Sometimes average NRL Players make superb SL players though. Not suggesting Austin will, but he’s got to be better than what was available here. I’ll be interested to see who we’ve got planned to line up alongside him though. Surely it can’t be just Brown?

Well, if he has a sidestep, even an easily readable one, he should still make more line breaks than his predecessor did. One would do it.

As I've said before, I'm done with watching YouTube clips. Too many high hopes, dashed.
I've not clicked on Sally's links. I imagine they're disgruntled fans venting their spleens. The SL is a lot easier than NRL, so he's got a fair bit more scope to play well.
No. The bit that interests me, is Sally's "started off sensationally, then tailed off" bit. He's just described Graham Appo. Apparently, he made a career out of this.
I pray Austin doesn't follow the same path.

At least if Austin did that, we'd be back to where we were with Sandow (or Saints with Barba) and I'd quite look forward to an early season of Austin tearing teams up.

It appears that some of you have written Austin off before he has even arrived. Given the guy a fighting chance . Price has had time to assess matters and will get it right. I always felt Roberts was a rushed purchase and what was available there has been more time to assess Austin and how he fits in with Prices philosophy Let’s not pre- determine Austin before he arrives and instead judge him after 10 or 12 games.

It possibly could be judged a better season because we wouldn't be bottlers.
The 2011 season, when we were knocked out in the playoffs after winning the League Leaders Shield, was probably the peak of the TS era, and we didn't bottle a final. |

He is making the right k8nd of noises about coming over which is a positive and with family in tow hopefully he can get settled in quickly. My preference would be for there to be a new partner for him to work with.
At present we can only speculate on how things will work out but it's a fair assumption he will work out better than Roberts.

Very happy with him. Bought in to the club and the town and seems happy here. As expected he has a very strong running game which suits SL, we just need some other threats around him next year to make him even more dangerous. It became a bit predictable last season that our only real attacking threat came from him or a Clark run from a quick play the ball.
Never got chance in the final third of the season following injury, would have been interesting what would have happened with us had he stayed fit for the full year. I don’t think we would have won it, but I think we’d all be a lot more confident going in to 2020z
